The meeting was called to order by President Vanderboeghg with
Mayor Glassy all members of the Council and Attorney Ward present.
Minutes of the regular meeting of May 21 were approved as read..
'Mr. H. W. Dorn was given the floor to take up with the Council the
matter of water rent for the past years. The City's records showed that
this had been taken care of through July 31,- 1936, at a monthly rate
of 4)2.50 and Councilman Brown,g, seconded by Councilman Gladdens moved
that the City pay the water bill for 3 years and 10 months (to June'll 1940
when the City started pumping its own water) at $2.50 per month
and that in view of this pending settlement on the water bill9 the
lands of 'Darn Properties be withdrawn from the sale for 1939 taxes
and advertising costs eliminated. Lotion carried by poll,) as follows:

Mr. E. L. Thompson came before the Council to report a minor accident
on the playground and raised the question of the City's liability
in such cases. In the discussion that followed, Attorney lWard
advised that he did not believe the School Board carried any such
insurance because of a prohibitive premiumv and suggested the erectiaa
of signs. Councilman Bennettq seconded by Councilman Brown, moved
that two signs be posted at the playground stating that children .
play at their own risk. Motion carried.

Police :RaO.K.ke Attorney 'Ward m 'lard reported that Coral Gables still
working on its police ordinance.
Streets & Parks: Councilman Core reported that A. W. Kneibler on
N. 30th. St. wanted a tree removed whose roots were raising the side-
walk. Being located in the right -of -way, it was agreed it was the
City's business and to cut it down as soon as prisoners for this
work are available. Couneilman Core also brought up the request of
Mrs. Lawrence for paving of S. 6th Ave. across land that is still in
acreage i It was agreed that she would either have to put up the
amount n full or file a plat. The question of the extent and -
actual location of the right -of -way on N. lot St. (in COOPER'S SUED.)
was still being worked on with the Stangs
Building-s: Not enough, of them:
Special Committees: Attorney Ward advised that there is a criminal
code against eny action in connection with the proposed registration
of aliens, and that the municipality at the present time can act only
as an information 'bureau to the P.B.2. Attorney Ward also advised
that the Rosen deal was nearing closing.
A request for adjustment on delinquent taxes on Lot 199 Block 1
CARVER'S SUBDI`iISION presented on behalf of T. J. ;Faust who is the
owner under the L:urphy act, resulted in a motion by Councilman Gladden
seconded ,by Councilman Bostwick that said taxes be settled under
Resolution x,-190. Motion carried by Poll, as follows:

It was decided to "?sit tight" on the lots purchased by the City
under the Murphy Act, until such time as deed is received.
Mayor Glass reported that he had been successful in obtaining for
the Boy Scout Camp on Snapper Creek about 500 ft-of 1�" fire hose_
from Miami and,that Coral Gabes had promised an additional 600 ft.
It was suggested that Councilman Brown get together with Mr. Macfar-
lane on the Camp's needs in case or fire. He also suggested that
the City make Mr. bsacfarline an honorary resident of South Miami,
and Councilman Brown was appointed, a committee of one to see Mir.
Macfarlane and notify him of this appointment and also be the Council'
representative on Boy Scout Matters.
Mayor Glass then presented his estimate of the budget for the coming
fiscal year, with copies given to each Councilman for study.
