lled,to order by Pres. Vanderboegh with Mayor Glassy Caancil
men Gladdens Thompson, Bryant; Core and Vanderboegh, and Atty. Ward responding to
roll call.
Minutes of the regular meeting of February 20 were approved as read.
Pres. Vanderboegh, then read the not lice for the hearing of objections to the proposed
road improvement H-8, as .advertised in the MIAMI MR of Feb. 23 and Mar. 1, res-
pectively. The only interested °property owner present was FYank Vilk, who expressed
himself as being in favor of the improvementi.wh oh had been requested by the majority
of bge other owners affected, Councilman Gladden, seconded by Councilman Thompm n,;
moved that Resolution #193 be read. notion' carried.

ORDERING HIGHUAY IMPROVEMENTS IN THE CITY OF
SOUTH MIAMIv
WHEREAS, on the 20th day f February, A. D. 1940 at a re

day duly and legally held, the 'City Council passed said adopted its Resolution
#192 ordering certain highway improvements to be done in said City of South Miami
Florida, a description of which more fully appears in said Resolution 4192, and 1p

published, o& ling and provid lug, for the hearing of objections upon the part of
all interested persons, the City Council at its meeting held at 8 o'clock P.II.r
on March 5, A. D. 1940, did hear and consider all objections presented by interested
persons to the confirmation of said Resolution No. 192 ordering said higbvay m•.

jeotions to said improvements, plans, specifications and estimate of cost having
been sustained, the said Resolution No. 192 so ordering said isppivemmto to be
made, was by a majority vote of the City Council duly ,confirmed,

That said Resolution $192 adopted the 20th day of February, A.D. 1940, order-

In connection with the notice of a 1ttblic hearing on the Csloosahatchee River and
hake Okeechobee Drag We Areas, Atty. Vard reported that while this is a. big move-
meaty it is of no immediate interest locally at the present time, but that the Miami
Chamber of Commerce was keeping in touch with it
Mayor Gla se reported receipt of a letter from Representative Cannon, thanking him
and the Council for the 'telegram recommending Goo. Merrick for the Miami postmaster -
ship, and a letter from Goo. Merrick himself, thanking for said reoo mendation

Sanitation= In connection with a complaint about the (parking of a truck used for
hauling garbage, Atty. Ward referred the Council to Sections 69, 70 and 89 of
Ord. #3 and Councilman Bryant was to check the astter
Fire, Councilman Thompson reported considerable activity since the previous meeting, ,
with at least 10 fires. In a discussion regarding the siren sent on approval, he °
was instructed to see what term; could be obtained, as there is no money left In
the current budget for this items,

Streets &_Parkas Councilman Core reported that machinery for the road work would
be ready to start work this week. He also called attention to the water supply
system for the City Hall building, which In now be supplied by the well and pomp
on the Dorm property. There was a discussion of whether to install a Vamp at the
City Hall, which would necessitate digging A well, or 'whether to increase the gmnp-
r ing facilities at the Conmanity Building and pipe the water- from there and Council-
man Core was instructed to look into the matter and report back at the next no sting.
He also reported that W.A. Crum is still ill and that `he heed placed Jews Pinder
temporarily in his position. CousolVan Thompson, seconded by Ccnno lm Gladden,
moved that the weskit pay at $2•00 per day be divided between -Goo. Wiegand and `
S. C. Parker for the, last week in February, when they were looking after the
building and groandd and that "dames Pin6er be paid $8.00 per
day on regular pay days, for the time he is substituting for WeA. Crum* Notion

Following a discussion, Councilman Thompson, seconded by 'Councilman Core, moved

In ocnnect'ion with the proposed establishment of the Home Aid unit in the Bank
Bldge, Mayor Glass reported that he had been promised a definite official answer
the nest day, but that to all appearances everyting was 0.&
