SPECIAL MEETING of the City Council
of the City of South Miami, held at the City Hall
June 2nd, 1933 at $400 O'Clock P.M.
The Meeting was called by the Mayor, G. L. Peacock,
for the purpose of discussing the reduction of the Street
Lighting bills and any other business which might arise.
The Meeting was called to order by the President,
Mr; Beaver. Those present were Mayor Peacock and Councilmen
Chubbuck, West, Metger and Beaver.
The Clerk read the minutes of the Special meeting of
the Council held March 30, 1933,, and of the Special meeting
held April 19, 1933 There being no corrections the minutes
were adopted as read.
The Clerk presented the following bill's for approval-

Councilman West moved that the above bills be
allowed and ordered paid. The motion was seconded by.Counol-
man Metger and was carried unanimously by poll as follows:-
Chubbuck yea West
Metger yes
6 Yee ' Beaver yes
Councilman Metger offered the motion, which was
seconded by Councilman Chubbuck that the City Council accept
the proposition of the Florida Power & Light Company in
making it reduction in the monthly street lighting contract to
the approximate amount of Seventy Five Dollars (675.00) by
reducing the Number of Street Lights in return for which the
Council must extend the term of the contract for an additional
period o` i six months; and give a certificate of indebtedness for
the past due account. The motion carried by poll as follows,

Miami, Floridan -
Gentlemen
This is to advise you that I will be absent
from the City of South Miami for a peZiod of six weeks. I
wish that the „,Clerk would insert in his records, the above.

i Councilman Chubbuck moved that Mayor Peacock be
granted a leave of absence for six weeks and that Police Officer
M. J. Hutson be granted ,a leave for ten days, and that a substitute
be appointed to act in the capacity of each official during
his absence. The motion; was seconded by Councilman Metger and
was carried unanimously.,
The President of the Council, Mr. Beaver, appointed
Judge W. A. Foster to act as Municipal Judge in the absence
of Municipal Judge George L. Peacock, and J. F. Maples to act
as Police officer during 'Mr. Hutson'ls 'ab`sence
Councilman Metger moved that the President of the
Council, Mr. Beaver, be authorized to act for the City in
cutting out street lights to the amount of approximately
Seventy Five Dollars ($75.00) fer month and to have the proper
contracts drawn. The motion was seconded by Councilman West
and was carried unanimously.
There being no further business, the meeting
adjourned in regular order.
