Beaver, following which i, ',ayor PeacocT. administered the oath of office to
councilman Yarborow h
Those present were 1,9vor Peacock and ; cuncilmen Beaver, Chubbuok,
Scivracker, uorde'll, i.:etl er, Yarborourj , and `Nest.
The Dresident of th coiz.cil, L.ro Beaver appointed the following
councilmen to act as heads of the various departments of the municival
government:- J. L. Yarborourh, finance, :'l. r. rordeli, sanitary,
A. J. Schmacker, police, Ire: %, ':'est,, fire, J. Chubbuck streets, J. C.
;Zetger,building '
A motion was rade, by councilman ,hubbuck that Esyor Peacock
be appointed =, ici'pal judge4 the motion was seconded by councilman,
Cordell and received a unanimous vote,
Councilman Chubbuck then offered a motion which was seconded by
councilman )chr-. cker that I,:r. J. C. ''u.11ivan be retained as attorney for
the City of South Eiami, P lorid'a at a salary of ti.1.00 per year. The motion_
was adopted unanimously.
A motion was made by councilman �chxracker that the council retain
the employees of the City of South Liam as appointed by the former pre -
ceding council, at the sane sataries as "novi received. 'the motion =,gas;
seconded by-councilman .etjer And =3 carried unanir:.ously.
' Councilman Shubbuck asked for a rising vote from all t)tose present
in the hall in appreciation of the work, done by the former council in behalf
of the City. The vote vras unanimous. t°
Upon the suggestion of I„ayor Peacock the council voted to present
to the retiring I.ayor, I, "r. poster and'Xrs Foster , the beautiful floral
offering of gladiolas presentea to the council at their first meetinG by
s:r. J. Dp L:cKeeluu! and 'i�*ri J. B. Hayden. `"embers of the council expressed
their ;pleasure and appreciation to I „essrs .Hayden and ;,.clleehan for the
flowers.'
Several of the retiring offi dip ls of the City of South ;Miami were
given the opportunity to 'address the gathering and all wished the new council
success and offered them their co- operation and support in their administration.
There being; no further business the meeting adjourned in regular
order..
