1933-02-20 MINUTES CITY COUNCIL MTGLeeting of the City Council of the City of South ;, :iami, Florida February 20, 1933 convened, in conformity with the provisions of the City charter requiring the city council to.meet as a canvassing board not later than Eonday following the date of election, for the purpose of canvassing the returns of the city election .held in the city of,South lliami, February 14, 1933 for the purpose of electing a mayor and seven councilmen 'to serve said city of SouthCuiami for the ensueing term. In the absence of the persident , ' :rl Lindley a motion was made by councilman Angerman that %.r. Red act as president pro tom. The motion was se seconded by Councilman Smith and -0a:s carried'. Councilman Sch,i)acker then moved that the board proceed to canvas the returns of the City election held February 14, 1933. , The motion was secon - ded'by councilman Burtashaw and was carried. Councilman Red broke the seal of the envelope containing the " official returns of the said election. At this time Mr. Lindley, president of the council appeared and took charge of the meeting. The clerk then read the report of the election inspectors and election clerk as follows: Certificate of Return by Inspectors and Clerk, E'ullcipal election South 3,;iami, Florida; February 14, 1933. State of Florida,, County of Dade, City of Southb Miami;' We, the undersigned, inspectors and clerk for the mdnicipal ,YSl ction held in the City of South L:iami, Florida February 14, 1933, in accnraance�r!d as propided by the Charter of said City, do hereby certify that(409) Four Hundred Nine ballots were cast at said election. We do further certify that the following is a true and correct return of the votes cast for the office of Layor,: George L. Peacock- 214 votes Alvis 'II.
