1932-11-15 MINUTES CITY COUNCIL MTGMinutes of the City council meeting of the City of South
Miami, at the City Wall November 15._1932 at 8,:00 o'clock r. M.
The meeting was called to order by the president of the council,, Mr.
Lindley, immediately after which gayor Foster asked that he be :permitted at
this time to administer the oath of office to Mr. Schmacker after which Mr.
Schmacker took his seat as councilman
The president then called for the reading of the minutes of the special
meets October , 932 and the regular meeting of November 1, 1932.
There being no corrections the minutes were declared by the president to be
adopted as reed.
;Councilman Red offered a motion that attorneys Sullivan and Lindsey be
authorized to appeal the decision of the Circuit Court -in the ease of the
South Miami Development Company against! the City of South Miami, Florida.
The motion wasseeonded by councilman Chnbbuck. A'poll of the vote was taken,
resulting as follows:-

The motion was carried unanimously.

the let day of September, A.D. 1932 passed its resolution
authorizing the City Clerk of the Pity of South Miami to
sell tax certificates acquired by purchase by the said City
at sales for non- payment of City taxes for the years 1926,1927,
1928 and 19290 at and for a discount of sixty -six and two-
thirds per cent (66 2/3% )thereof ;provided taxes for subse-
quent years should at the same time be paid by the purchaser
from said City of said certificates for said years.of 1926,
1927, 1928 and 1929; ands

of said resolution
substantially follows the wording of Senate Bill No 313,
being Chapter 15488 of the taws of Florida, Session 1931
of the Florida Legielature the Impression has arisen that
It was the intention of the said City of South Mami in the
passage of said resolution to confine its acts and the acts
of the officers done pursuant thereto to the authority
granted said City of 'South }Aiami by said Senate B111 ,110 313,
being Chapter 15488 of the taws of Florida. 1931; and,
