Sept. 7th 1932 n This being an adjourned meeting of the city council of the City of South i,; ami and Mr. R.J.Lindley, President of the council and Councilmen ilied being present, but a quorum not being present, the meeting is declared adjourned until !wonday, Sept. 12th li 1932 at 8 O'Clock P.14. South Miami;, Florida Sept. 12th 1932 The City council convened pursuant to adjournment, tnose present being Councilmen Angermen, Peacock, Burtashaw, Smith, Red, and Lindley. The meeting was called to order by the President and the minutes of the adjourned meeting of the city council August 31st 1932, and the special meeting held Sept 1 at. 1932 were read and approved. r, And now come to be considered the returns of an election held in the City of South Liami, Florida on the 6th day of.September,,1932 to determine whether or not the franchise of said city should be or should not be surrendered; and it appearing to the council after due inspection and considerations of'the,returns`of said election so submitted to it that there were a total of 313 votes cast at said election; that there were 203 votes cast For surrender of franchise and 110 votes cant against surrender of the franchise; and it further appearing to the council that, under the law, it requires a two thirds vote to surrender the franchise of the city and that the proposition to,surrender the franchise of the City of South 1Iiami, Florida did not receive two thirds of the vote cast at said election, the council therefor finds, r, adjudges and now declares that the proposal to surrender the franchise of the City of South Miami, Florida was defeated at said election. And the clerk is directed to make in the minutes of this council a proper notation of such facts The Police bond for $1,000400 issued by The Fidelity and Casualty Co. of New York, surety, to Larion J. Hutson, principal was presented and read and the provisions therein discussed. Following are the conditions set into said bond:- `The condition of the above obligsion is such that whereas, the above bounden Marion J. Hutson was, On the 'twenty first day of June, A.11. 1932 appointed Chief of Police of the said City of South Liiami to hold his office from the day he was so 4Ppointed until his successor is quglified,,and according to the Laws of the said City of South L,isini, Dade County, Florida. -,ow, thereforq,if the said Marion ,). hutson shall faithfully perform the duties of his said office, as prescribed by `law, then this obligation to be void, otherwise to be and remain in full force and virtue." A motion was made by councilman Angers that the above bond be approved, the same being duly seconded by councilmen Burtashawe 'The vote was unanimously in favor of the motion, lar. Fuller,representing th Florida waver and Light Co., who was present at the meeting, offered a, suggestion that the City council appoint a committee to confer with his[ on -the ,proposition to reduce the number of street lights in the city thereby cutting down the amount of the COmpOW8 lighting contract with the City of South Miami. Councilman Red then offered a motion that the council accept 11r. Fuller's suggestion and that ,a committee of two be appointed to act on the matter. The motion was seconded by councilman Burtashaw 'carried by a'umnnimous vote. The president then appointed Councilmen Red and Peacock to serve on above committee. Upon motion', councilman Red, seconded by councilman Burtasbaw, the following bills were ordered id Florida Powir and light Co.
