1931-07-21 MINUTES CITY COUNCIL MTGMinutes of meeting of the City Council at City Hall, South Miami, Fla. July 219 1931, at 8, P. M. Present were R. J. Lindley, president of the council, and councilmen Angerman. Red, Shelley, Houser, Smith, and Burtashaw. Meeting called to order by the.president, aftervwhich the minutes of the previous meetings, since the last regular session were read and approved. The Clerk ,then read the minutes of the board of !equilization, which ;after; some few corrections were approved. After some discussion regarding money due on note, held by the American Lafrance, Fire engine Cog it was moved and seconded that the City execute new note, in amount of maturing in days, in 'favor of the American Lafrance, Fire .Engine Co, in compliance with their written InstructioJoe A poll was taken on above motion and motion carried unanimously. No action waB taken on street lighting bill, dated July lot, in amount of 208.43 and it was passed to future consideration,, 4 A motion was made by Councilman Shelley, seconded,by councilman Houser, that the following bills be ordered paid, Florida Power and Light Co. Office lights 1.65 Florida Power and Light Co'. Caution Light 4974 A poll on the above motion was taken, and motion carried unanimously. Councilmen Shelley then made motion seconded by councilman Angerman, that Ordinance S No the caption of which is (Appropiation Ordinance of the City of 'South Miami, Fla. for the fiscal year, beginning July lot, 1931, and ending JIdne 30, 1932,) be read by sections for 'third reading Motion carried unanimously,. Whereupon Councilmn Red, proceeded to read the ordinance by sections. , After reading and discussing the ordinance by sections, a motion was made by , S�_3 councilmen Shellejr, seconded by councilmen Burtashawv, that ordinance No_ 1� be adopted. A poll was takes on above motion, and mption carried unanimously. Councilman Shelley then presented the following resolution, 70 _ Resolution No. ' Resolved by the Mayor and !City Council of the City of South Miami, Florida, that for the Fiscal year beginning, July lst 1931, and ending, June 30th, 1932, that the amount of tax to be collected, for Municipal purposes, on the properties located in this City, be fizvd at 6 mills on the dollar, the tax roll for the year, 1931, showing an assess- ed valuation, of $1497819,00 and the budget requiring, $9000.00 from the 1951 tax roll. A poll was taken on the above resolution, and it was unanimously adopted.; Upon motion duly made seconded and carried, the date of the delinquent tax sale for the 1930 taxes, was changed to take place on the first Monday in October.
