Monday evening, February 13th, 1928, at 8:00 P.M. as per the follow-
ing call:

Gentlemen:,
You are hereby notified that there will be a
sbecial meet ng of the Council at the City ,Hall, South
Miami,, Fla,, at eight P.M., TTonday, February 13 1928, to
consider a certain petition of citizens. You will attend such special meeting, if you can possioly do so.

President Paxson called the meeting to order. Councilman Stang
was the only absentee.
A petition from the businessmen, was read and a general dis-
cussion ensued.

South Miami, Fla.
Gentlemen:,
We, the undersigned, merchants and businessmen of
South Miami, Florida, with all due respect for, and confidence
in, your judgment,, request that your honorable body, recon-
sider the question of the discharge of Officer Ernest Ruling.
Turing the period Officer H:.ling has been employed
as night officer by the City of South Miami,, Florida, we the
undersigned merchants and businessmen have known a new sense of
security when leaving our respective places of business; know-
ing that Officer Huling is making his rounds the whole night
through. This has been proven time and time and again when
ii members of the above mentioned body (the undersigned merchants
and businessmen) have been investigated by Officer Nuling,
while entering their respective n7aces of business, after the
usual closing time and ireegular hours, of the night,
