Minutes of a meetingY o , the Town Council o,f the- Town, of
South "IFiami Fla. , held in the 'Town H411 on Sunset Road Tuesday
eventing, :December 21st, 1926, at 6:0:0 o'clock P.T4.
The Meeting waa called to order by the President of Council,
J. L. Pai.son.
The Cleric called the roll Ad -found the following mentioned
members of'tne Council present; J. L. Paxson, J. ' "l Barra, Jno
hWers, Vi. G. Stang, J. 3. Janes, R. L. Martin and H W. Dorn.
The President called for -a report from the various committee-

Alderman R.; L. Irartin' Committeeman on Sanitation, .reported 613 that notices had. been posted at variok, paces in town and de-

l,ivere�i to, quite. a number of property owners b the .Town Marshall
settiiLg forth that part o1° the `.7anitary Ordinance of the town with
reference-to improperly constructed and unsanitary outhouses'.
A motion was made by Alderman R. L. Martin and seconded by
J. W Barra that the Health Officer be authorized, to purchase a -
barrel o r' dis infeetant and hand spray and-that the Towrn Clerk be
authorized to nay Dr. 0. 0, Underwood $1.00 for each Derson given -
treatment of Typhoid Fever serum..
Motion was out to vote and `carried, ,all votes being in the `
of "irmative.
Committeeman on streets and sewers, . Jno. Dyers, brought up
f- uestion of leaching basin at drugstore corner and was instructed
to have same cleaned out and ),,t in rrorxing order.
Committeeman on Fires, Alderman Janes, brought up the question
of permits being issued to burn trash fires, and was advised that
matter was properly taken care of in the code which shoiil,d be
enforced.
ls. Dasher and Mr. Broo.,cs, owners of property cnown as
university Gardens at Red °Road and Miller as:ced that an adjust-
ment be made on taxes for teat nro�er "ty. No definite action was
taken, by the council.
The question of date of limitation for naming nominees to
be voted on at the General Town Election to be helri Febr.ary 7th,
1927, was taken up by the Council and after a general discussion,
the following mentioned motion was made by Alderman R. L. Martin;
Moved that for the next general election to be held Feb. 7th,
1927, all candidates must qualify on or before January 15th, s'
1927, and that each candidate be required to oubnish in the
local newspaper or post in the Town Ball and two other con-
spicuous places in the Town of South Miami a notice of his
intention to become a candidate and announcement of office
for which he seeics election.
2iotion was seconded by Alderman J. 'N Barra and upon being
put to vote was carried, all votes being in the affirmative.
A motion was made by Alderman J. B. Janes that accident in-
surance be provided for all the police officers ..f the Town.
Motion was seconded by J. W. Barra and un.)n being; voted on was
carried, all votes being "Ayers,

rman W. G. Stang that the Town Clerk be authorized to draw vouchers
in payment of. all bills O.K.ed by Alderman H. 'U. Dorn. Committee-
man on Finance. Motion was seconded by Alderman Martin and when
-ut to vote was carried all votes being "Ayer'.
Alderman R. L. Martin brought up the question of having the
two white way lights in front of drugstore and one in front of
Post Office put on circuit with balance of white way east of R.R.
The Clerk was instructed to tafe the matter up with Mr. Miller
reoresentat?ve of the Florida Power & Light Co. and mare arrange-
to have these three lights placed in the circuit..
The Clerk was also instructed to have the Florida Light
tPower Co, install a cock for the regulat' on of the white way
circuit east of the railroad and adjustment of the clock for the
circuit west of the railroad;
There being.-no further business to come before the board,
a motion was made ay Alderman John Dyers to adjourn motion was
seconded by W. G. Stang, and when put to vote was carried, all votes
being in the affirmative.
