V Minutes ofa�a Special Lleeting of the Town Council of the Town of South Miami held- t'Jednesday evening, August 18th, at 8:00 P. M., pur- suant, to adjournment of August 17th, 1926. The Neeting was called to order by President Protem„ W. G Stang, who asked` the Clerx to call the roll. o ' The following mentioned Aldermen answered roll call:' W. G. Stang, J. 'Jr. Barre, J;.° B. Janes, R. L. Martin. Mvembers,- Absent :were John Alders and H W. Dorn; J. L. Paxson, b.ayor Protera, was present at the meeting.__ The Clerk was asxed to read the Minutes of the `meeting of August 3rd, also of August 17th, and Minutes' were a;�proved as read. Alderman J B. Janes and J. 74. 'Barr::. working as a Committee to have smoke and steam nuisance aated in rear of building occupied as cleaning plant of L;, R. Geiger reported the steam had been taken care r of but smoke nuisance was unchanged. A Notion was made by Alderman J. B. cJanes and seconded by J. W. Barre that following resolution be passed oy the To'rrn Council oP the Town of South Miami E "Be it Resolved that 'Dorn Bros., owners of building occupied by L� R. Geiger of cleaning and pressing plant, be notifiel to to e steps at once to abate the nuisance caused by smoke from chimney of boiler in rear of building at corner of Dorn St. "rand' Sunset Rd,." Motion was put to vote and carried, all votes being in the affirmative. Committeeman on Fire,, J. B James, brought up question of having branch 'phone run up to bedroom of A. B. Core in connection with fire alarm for Volunteer De ,)t., and Council approved. of having this done. Clark was instructed, to notify telephone company to attend to this,. Aldermen J. 'N. -- Barr: made a report on work being done to arrange for jail and fire station facilities for the town. Engineer Brundage' -presented a sketch of a ouilding which %. ould Give room for jail cells and fire engine quarters. Estimated cost of build ins was 20Oo.0o. The question of making terms and arrangements with J. L. Parson for a site on which to put ouil.iing will be taken up by the Committee and a report will be "made at the next .iee6�ing of the Council. Town 'Engineer :Brundage then brought up the question of having necessary 'preliminary survey work done on Improvement District Number One (1) And Two '(2) in order to go ahead with drawing up of specifica- tions and advertising for bids, and informed the Council tr;at owners of Cambridge Lawns we-.rl.d advance the necessary f!.nds to c-ver cost of thia preliminary worx. He as,ted that following resolution be passed by the Town Council of the Town oP South 114iami; f'Be it Res )lved that tiie Town Engineer be authorized to proceed with the preparation of plans, specifications and estimates and to advertise for aids on Im rovement District Number One (1) and. Co. was brought up by the members of the. Counci 1 and the Clerk was requested to read, a letter from the General Superintendent of the R.R. The Town Clerk was cal'ed on for a statement of the financi,a',) /I condition of the town and ,reported that note of One Thousand Dollars (901000.00) due the Commercial :,Bank & Trust Co.,, August''9th was' past due and unpaid nor, renewed. He also stated arrangements had been made for renewal of note oro vi d i ng,ressolution reading as � follows be passed by the Town Council, 'and a gua :xantee of Dayment by signed by each member of the Council and filed with the note. A Resolution auth'ori zing the issuance of a certain warrant by the Town of South Pfiani, Fla.: r'4EREAS, sufficient revenue has not been collected by taxation with which to ray that certain note `n the sum of One Thousand ($1000,.00) Dollars maturing August 9th, 1926, heretofore given the Commercial `.Bank & Trust Co. of ! /aami, Fla. by the Town of Soutibt Miami, Fla. and WHEREAS, it is necessary that said note hereinabove mentioned be renewed with the C'ty National Bank & Trust Co. of "Aami, Succe sor to the Commercial Banx & Trust Co. ; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of South Miami that there be i.3sued in the name of said Municipality a town warrant in favor of the City ICational Banx & Trust Co. of Miami for the sum of One Thousand ( X1000.) Janes and seconded by R. Z. Martin the resolution as read be passed and adopted by the Town Council, of the Town of South Yliami. Sullivan salary for June � Jul y 100.00 He reported that a?�rangements had been made with the City k National: Banat & Trust Co, for a loan of $1000400 for 90 days pro- viding that resolution zeading as follows be passed and adooted, and a personal guarantee of payment be signed by all members of the Council and filed with the note: Resolution #12. Ptartin that resolution be passed and adopted as read. Motion was voted on and carried, all votes being in the affirmative. The question :of ex»loding of dynamite at night by operators of stone quarries was brought before the board and the Town Engineer was requested to have Ordinance drawn regulating the shooting of dynamite at night, and present same to Council for adoption. Arrangements were made to have the members of the Town Council meet with the City Planning Board of the South M-ami District Chamber of Commerce for the purnose of formulating an (Ordinance` to regulate the construction of `building in t;te Town of South Miami, the date of meeting being set for Monday evening, August 23rd, 1926, at 8 :00 P.I4 There being no further business to come before the board, a motion was made by Alderman R. L. Martin to adjourn to a Regular Yleet- ind of the Town Council Tuesday evening, Sent. 7th, 1926, at 8 :00 P.M. in the Town Hall on Sunset Road. Motion was seconded by Alderman J. '.B'.
