Committeemen Th e wera then. called for reports for the various=�de-
partments Committeeman of Sanitation, Alderman Margin reported that the
garbage situation was being taken,oare of through the - employment`Of a "truck
driver and man who were= hauling garhage from all the yards of South Miami.
Committeeman Stang of the Department of Police reported that an effort would
be made at an a *rly date to have certain streets of the town properly striped
'to regulate the .parking of automobiles. ,
Alderman John Myers, Committeeman on streets and 'sewers brought up the
question of taking some steps to ;re- locate the building and property line
along the North side of Sunset Road between Red Road and the Miami Homestead
Highway and after"I',$ len&thy',disoussion by all members present, the matter
was set aside for consideration at a later date.
President Paxson then called for a report from the special committee
�t that had been appointed to work out a plan for the handling of the transpor-
tation situation for the town, of South Miami. r
Alderman Dorn read two propositions presented by C. F Brundage but
after a discussion of the question by the Aldermen present, it was decided
that the town of South ',Miami should make arrangements for running a car or
bus to conneot with the Coral Gables Interurban Line, o-
A motion was made by Alderman Martin and seconded by Alderman Barre
that the °president appoint a committee of two to arrange for buying a oar
((zl and hiring a driver to establish a bus line on regular schedule at the ear-
liest possible date to make oonneetions with the Coral Gables Interurban
Line- Motion was put to vote and carried, there being five votes in favor
of the motion and one deeinting vote.
The president of the Board appointed Alderman H:, W. Dorn and J. W.
Barre as a committee on Transportation .`
The question of enforcing Ordinance number 2 was brought before the
Board by the Town. Clerk for oinsideration and after a general discussion
of the subject a motion was made by Alderman J. W Barre and seconded by
Alderman W. G. Stang that an extension of 30 days be granted for the pay -
ment of occupational taxes befoie the penalties as provided bylaw should be
appliede Motion was put to vote, and was carried, all votes being in the
affirmative.
The -juestion of posting bills on the streets of South Miami was brought
up by Alderman. Barre and after a discussion by the members of the Board it
was decided that the requirements as outlined by the town Code would govern
The Clerk was instructed to read Ordinance number 17 word for worm and
section by section, the title of this Ordinance being " An Ordinance grant
ing to Florida Power & Light Company, its successors and Assigns the right
privileges, or franchise for the period of 30 years to construct, maintain
and operate, in, under, upon, over and across the present and future streets,
avenues, alleys, highways, bridges, easments and other public places in the
town of 'South ;Miami and its successors, Electric light and Power Lines to- �
gether with all the necessary or desirable appurtenances for the purpose of
supplying electricity to said town and its successors, the inhabitants there-
of, for light, heat, power and other purposes and imposing provisions and
conditions relating thereto: -
As the sections were read, they were approved by the Board of Aldermen,
A motion was made by Alderman H. W. Dorn that Ordinance no 11 which had been
read the third time be adopted as read. Motion was seconded by Alderman

R. . Martin, vote on motion was taken read., and all votes being in the
affirmative, the motion was carried. President Paxson thereupon declared the
