THE EXISTING SPRINKLER SYSTEM AND HEAD LOCATIONS SHALL BE
MODIFIED PER TENANT'S NEW FIXTURES, PARTITIONS, SOFFITS, DROPS,
CEILING HEIGHTS, ETC.
THE SPRINKLER SYSTEM SHALL BE DESIGNED AND INSTALLED IN STRICT
ACCORDANCE WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE LANDLORD, LANDLORD'S
FIRE INSURANCE UNDERWRITER, AND ALL GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES AND
AUTHORITIES HAVING JURISDICTION OVER THE PREMISES.
COMPREHENSIVE SHOP DRAWINGS AND CALCULATIONS SHALL BE
SUBMITTED BY THE CONTRACTOR FOR THE APPROVAL BY THE OWNER,
LANDLORD, LANDLORD'S FIRE INSURANCE UNDERWRITER, AND THE FIRE
RATING INSPECTION BUREAU.
TENANT'S FIRE PROTECTION CONTRACTOR SHALL DISCONNECT EXISTING
SYSTEM FROM MAIN SYSTEM... PERFORM HIS WORK, TEST, THEN
RECONNECT TO MAIN SYSTEM ... ALL COSTS RELATED TO DRAIN DOWN AND
FILLS ARE TO BE BORNE BY TENANT'S FIRE PROTECTION CONTRACTOR.
SPRINKLER SHOP DRAWINGS SHALL BE SUBMITTED TO THE LANDLORD AND
LANDLORDS INSURANCE COMPANY AND RECEIVE THEIR APPROVAL BEFORE
ANY INSTALLATION CAN BEGIN. APPROVED DRAWINGS MUST BE AT THE
JOB SITE DURING CONSTRUCTION.
TENANTS SPRINKLER SYSTEM DESIGN SHALL BE BASED UPON A SINGLE
SOURCE OF SUPPLY, ORDINARY HAZARD PIPE SCHEDULE SYSTEM AS
OUTLINED IN NFPA PAMPHLET #13 AND THE LANDLORDS INSURANCE
CARRIERS REQUIREMENTS.
TENANT SPRINKLER SYSTEM MAY BE VALVED AT CONNECTION TO
LANDLORD MAINS. IF SYSTEM IS EXISTING, TENANT SHALL ATTACH A
TAMPER SWITCH AND INTERFACE WITH LANDLORDS FIRE ALARM SYSTEM.
TENANT SHALL FURNISH AN INSPECTORS TEST CONNECTION. THE TEST
CONNECTION SHALL BE INSTALLED OFF THE MOST REMOTE SPRINKLER, AS
PHYSICALLY POSSIBLE, FROM THE SPRINKLER SUPPLY MAIN. INSPECTORS
TEST CONNECTION SHALL BE EQUIPPED WITH A 1" CORROSION- RESISTANT
SHUT -OFF VALVE AND A SMOOTH BORE CORROSION- RESISTANT OUTLET
DRAIN WITH HOSE BIB CONNECTION FOR DISCHARGE TO A SUITABLE
RECEPTOR.

ALL PIPING SHALL BE SUPPORTED FROM BEAMS /JOISTS ONLY. DO NOT
ATTACH ANYTHING DIRECTLY TO THE UPPER LEVEL SLAB OR ROOF DECK.
FASTENING AND /OR SUSPENSION DEVICES SHALL BE ATTACHED TO THE
BUILDING STRUCTURE ONLY.
FINAL CONNECTION TO LANDLORDS SPRINKLER MAIN SHALL NOT BE MADE
UNTIL THE ENTIRE SYSTEM WITHIN THE DEMISED PREMISES IS PRESSURE
TESTED AND READY FOR SERVICE.
ALL SPRINKLER SYSTEM TESTS SHALL BE WITNESSED BY THE LANDLORDS
ON -SITE REPRESENTATIVE AND LOCAL JURISDICTIONAL AUTHORITIES AS
REQUIRED.
ALL MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT UNDER THIS SECTION SHALL BE NEW
AND LISTED BY UNDERWRITERS LABORATORIES, INC. AND FACTORY
MUTUAL FOR FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM INSTALLATION, AND APPROVED BY
ALL AUTHORITIES HAVING JURISDICTION AND GOVERNING CODES.
ALL PIPING SHALL BE DESIGNED IN ACCORDANCE WITH NFPA #13 AND
INSTALLED PER LANDLORDS INSURANCE CARRIERS REQUIREMENTS. ALL
PIPING SHALL BE THREADED SCHEDULE 40 BLACK STEEL MEETING ASTM
A135. ALL PIPE FITTINGS ARE REQUIRED TO BE PRESSURE CLASS 175.
ALL HANGERS ARE TO BE OF AN APPROVED TYPE AND SPACED IN
ACCORDANCE WITH NFPA #13. SEISMIC BRACING TO BE INSTALLED PER
CODE.

AND LOCATIONS MUST BE FIELD VERIFIED AND COORDINATED
WITH ARCHITECTURAL, HVAC, FIRE PROTECTION, PLUMBING,
STRUCTURAL, ELECTRICAL AND OTHER BUILDING DRAWINGS.
IT IS REQUIRED THAT THE FIRE PROTECTION CONTRACTOR
MUST VISIT THE JOB SITE TO FAMILIARIZE HIMSELF WITH
MAJOR ITEMS SUCH AS STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS, PLUMBING
LOCATIONS AND ELECTRICAL RUNS. ADDITIONALLY FIRE
PROTECTION CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY EXACT LOCATIONS
AND DIMENSIONS OF FIRE PROTECTION ITEMS AND HVAC
SYSTEM COMPONENTS, ETC. PRIOR TO BID, AND CONTACT
THE OWNERS CONSTRUCTION REP /ARCH/ ENGINEER AND
REPORT ANY DIFFERENCES/ DISCREPANCIES IN THE
DRAWINGS FOR A DECISION.
FIELD VEMFY ALL CONDITIONS
DESIGN DRAWINGS ARE SCHEMATIC. THIS CONTRACTOR SHALL
VISIT THE SITE PRIOR TO BIDDING OR AWARD OF CONTRACT
TO INSPECT EXISTING FIELD CONDITIONS. THIS CONTRACT
SHALL INCLUDE ALL LABOR AND MATERIALS NECESSARY FOR
FIELD MODIFICATIONS DUE TO EXISTING CONDITIONS.
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTACT THE ARCHITECT, ENGINEER
OR OWNER PRIOR TO BIDDING FOR INTERPRETATIONS AND
CLARIFICATIONS OF THE DESIGN AND INCLUDE IN HIS BID ALL
COSTS TO MEET THE DESIGN INTENT. CLARIFICATIONS MADE
BY THE ARCHITECT, ENGINEER OR OWNER AFTER BIDDING WILL
BE FINAL AND SHALL BE IMPLEMENTED AT CONTRACTORS
COST.
BIDDING CONTRACTORS SHALL HAVE A WORKING KNOWLEDGE
OF LOCAL CODES AND ORDINANCES AND SHALL INCLUDE IN
THEIR BIDS THE COSTS FOR ALL WORK INSTALLED IN STRICT
ACCORDANCE WITH GOVERNING CODES, THE PLANS AND
SPECIFICATIONS NOT WITHSTANDING. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL
ALERT ARCHITECT, ENGINEER OR OWNER OF ANY APPARENT
DISCREPANCIES BETWEEN GOVERNING CODES AND DESIGN
INTENT.
SPRINKLER NOTES
1. SYSTEM SHALL BE ENGINEERED BY THE CONTRACTOR TO COMPLY WITH
CODE AND MALL REGULATIONS. SUBMIT DRAWINGS, RISER DIAGRAMS AND
CALCULULATIONS TO REGULATING AGENCIES AS REQUIRED FOR PERMITTING.
2. ALL HEADS IN PUBLIC AREAS SHALL BE CONCEALED TYPE WITH CUSTOM SHOP
PAINTED COVER PLATES TO MATCH ARCHITECT'S SAMPLE.
3. ALL HEADS IN BACK OFFICE, STOCKROOM , ETC. SHALL BE SEMI RECESSED.
4. HEADS SHALL BE CAREFULLY ALIGNED WITH AND /OR CENTERED BETWEEN LIGHT FIXTURE
GRID LINES, UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED. MAINTAIN 6" MIN. CLEAR BETWEEN HEADS
AND OTHER CEILING WORK. NO HEADS SHALL BE LOCATED ON CEILING BEAMS, EVEN
IF THIS MEANS MORE HEADS ARE REQUIRED TO ACHIEVE COVERAGE.
5. IT IS THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO COORDINATE AND ISSUE SPRINKLER
SHOP DRAWINGS TO THE ARCHITECT FOR APPROVAL, PRIOR TO PERMITTING.
&INSTALLATION AND /OR MODIFICATION OF SPRINKLER SYSTEM SHALL BE BY A LANDLORD'S
DESIGNATED OR APPROVED CONTRACTOR.
