2. THERE IS AN "EXISTING TRANE TRACER SUMMIT" BUILDING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (BMS) THAT CONTROLS
THE HVAC EQUIPMENT IN THE IMAX THEATER. THE HEAD HEND EQUIPMENT IS LOCATED IN THE EXISTING
ELECTRICAL ROOM ON THE FIRST FLOOR OF THE IMAX. IT IS THE INTENT OF THE DESIGN TO EXPAND
THE EXISTING SYSTEM TO ACCOMMODATE THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE NEW CONTROL SEQUENCES
SPECIFIED BELOW.
SEQUENCES OF OPERATION
CONSTANT VOLUME DIRECT EXPANSION (DX) ROOFTOP AIR HANDLING UNIT (RTU-2D):
THE SYSTEM CONSISTS OF A SINGLE ROOFTOP UNIT WITH CONSTANT AIR FLOW, A SINGLE STAGE ELECTRIC
HEATER AND DUAL COMPRESSORS. PROVIDE A NEW TEMPERATURE SENSOR AND LOCATE AS INDICATED ON
THE PLANS.
COOLING MODE: UNIT TO BE STARTED BASED ON A TIME OF DAY SCHEDULE. THE COMPRESSORS SHOULD
BE STAGED TO MAINTAIN THE SPACE SETPOINT. THE FAN IS TO RUN CONTINUOUSLY DURING NORMAL
HOURS OF OPERATION.
HEATING MODE: IF THE SPACE TEMPERATURE FALLS BELOW THE SETPOINT AND REMAINS THERE FOR A
SPECIFIED (ADJUSTABLE) LENGTH OF TIME THEN THE ELECTRIC HEAT SHALL BE ENERGIZED TO MAINTAIN
SPACE SETPOINT.

TO MAINTAIN A CONSTANT DISCHARGE AIR TEMPERATURE OF 557.
PROVIDE A NIGHT SETBACK MODE TO BRING THE UNIT ON IF THE SPACE TEMPERATURE WERE TO EXCEED
THE SETBACK SETPOINT.

SHALL RUN CONTINUOUSLY DURING ALL HOURS OF OPERATION. THE CONTROL VALVE SHALL BE ACTUATED

55% THEN THE VFD SHALL MODULATE TO ITS MINIMUM POSITION. IF THE SPACE RELATIVE HUMIDITY
REMAINS ABOVE THE SETPOINT AND THE TEMPERATURE WITHIN THE SPACE IS BELOW SETPOINT THEN THE
ELECTRIC HEAT SHALL BE ENERGIZED TO MAINTAIN SPACE TEMPERATURE SETPOINT.

MAINTAIN THE STATIC PRESSURE WITHIN THE DUCT. A DUCT PRESSURE SENSOR SHALL BE INSTALLED
APPROXIMATELY 2/3 OF THE WAY DOWN THE MAIN DUCT TRUNK. SPACE SETPOINT SHALL BE MAINTAINED
VIA THE MODULATION OF THE VAV UNITS. IF THE FAN IS OPERATING AT ITS MINIMUM POSITION AND ALL
OF THE SPACE SETPOINT SENSORS ARE SATISFIED THEN THE DISCHARGE AIR TEMPERATURE SHOULD BE

THE SCHEDULES ON THIS SHEET INDICATE THE EXISTING EQUIPMENT AS ORIGINALLY DESIGNED. THE
BOLD TEXT REPRRESENTS AREAS THAT ARE TO BE CHANGED AS PART OF THE MECHANICAL SCOPE OF

2. THERE IS AN "EXISTING TRANE TRACER SUMMIT" BUILDING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (BMS) THAT CONTROLS
THE HVAC EQUIPMENT IN THE IMAX THEATER. THE HEAD HEND EQUIPMENT IS LOCATED IN THE EXISTING
ELECTRICAL ROOM ON THE FIRST FLOOR OF THE IMAX. IT IS THE INTENT OF THE DESIGN TO EXPAND
THE EXISTING SYSTEM TO ACCOMMODATE THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE NEW CONTROL SEQUENCES
SPECIFIED BELOW.
SEQUENCES OF OPERATION
CONSTANT VOLUME DIRECT EXPANSION (DX) ROOFTOP AIR HANDLING UNIT (RTU-2D):
THE SYSTEM CONSISTS OF A SINGLE ROOFTOP UNIT WITH CONSTANT AIR FLOW, A SINGLE STAGE ELECTRIC
HEATER AND DUAL COMPRESSORS. PROVIDE A NEW TEMPERATURE SENSOR AND LOCATE AS INDICATED ON
THE PLANS.
COOLING MODE: UNIT TO BE STARTED BASED ON A TIME OF DAY SCHEDULE. THE COMPRESSORS SHOULD
BE STAGED TO MAINTAIN THE SPACE SETPOINT. THE FAN IS TO RUN CONTINUOUSLY DURING NORMAL
HOURS OF OPERATION.
HEATING MODE: IF THE SPACE TEMPERATURE FALLS BELOW THE SETPOINT AND REMAINS THERE FOR A
SPECIFIED (ADJUSTABLE) LENGTH OF TIME THEN THE ELECTRIC HEAT SHALL BE ENERGIZED TO MAINTAIN

SENSORS FOR AHU-3D AND AHU-4D.
COOLING MODE: UNIT TO BE STARTED AND STOPPED BASED ON A TIME OF DAY SCHEDULE. THE FAN
SHALL RUN CONTINUOUSLY DURING ALL HOURS OF OPERATION. THE CONTROL VALVE SHALL BE ACTUATED
TO MAINTAIN A CONSTANT DISCHARGE AIR TEMPERATURE OF 557. THE AIRFLOW SHALL BE VARIED TO
MAINTAIN SPACE SETPOINT. IF THE FAN IS OPERATING AT ITS MINIMUM POSITION AND THE SPACE SETPOINT

HUMIDITY CONTROL FOR AHU-3D AND AHU-4D ONLY: IF THE RELATIVE HUMIDITY EXCEEDS SETPOINT OF
55% THEN THE VFD SHALL MODULATE TO ITS MINIMUM POSITION. IF THE SPACE RELATIVE HUMIDITY
REMAINS ABOVE THE SETPOINT AND THE TEMPERATURE WITHIN THE SPACE IS BELOW SETPOINT THEN THE
ELECTRIC HEAT SHALL BE ENERGIZED TO MAINTAIN SPACE TEMPERATURE SETPOINT.
VARIABLE VOLUME CHILLED WATER AIR HANDLING UNIT (AHU-1D & AHU-5D):
THE SYSTEM CONSISTS OF A CHILLED WATER AIR HANDLING UNIT WITH A VARIABLE VOLUME FAN,

TO MAINTAIN A CONSTANT DISCHARGE AIR TEMPERATURE OF 557. THE AIRFLOW SHALL BE VARIED TO
MAINTAIN THE STATIC PRESSURE WITHIN THE DUCT. A DUCT PRESSURE SENSOR SHALL BE INSTALLED
APPROXIMATELY 2/3 OF THE WAY DOWN THE MAIN DUCT TRUNK. SPACE SETPOINT SHALL BE MAINTAINED
VIA THE MODULATION OF THE VAV UNITS. IF THE FAN IS OPERATING AT ITS MINIMUM POSITION AND ALL
OF THE SPACE SETPOINT SENSORS ARE SATISFIED THEN THE DISCHARGE AIR TEMPERATURE SHOULD BE
INCREASED.
PROVIDE A NIGHT SETBACK MODE TO BRING THE UNIT ON IF THE SPACE TEMPERATURE WERE TO EXCEED
