15A.2.14 Condensate Drains for A/C Units: Furnish and install drain lines to
disposal point as recaunuended by manufacturer. Type "L" hard drawn
copper or Schedule 40 PVC, and shall be insulated.

i5A.3.1 Installation Precautions:
A. All electrical, plumbing and underfloor duct roughing -in work in
floor must be completed, all pullbox forms must be in place; fine
grading and screen work finished before the above work is checked,
as to a sub location by Vim-Dixie representative.
B. Make all joints in bell an spigot or "no hub" piping with oakum,
well driven in and molten pig lead poured full at one pouring, then
caulk thoroughly until air - tight. Make screw joints between cast
iron pipes and other pipes water -tight with compound.
C. Make joints in vitrified clay pipe using oakum and stiff mix of sand
and cement, or neoprene gaskets.
D. Make joints on copper pipe using solder. •
E. Make joints in plastic underfloor duct as recommended by pipe
manufacturer. Lay plastic pipe with gradual slope to refrigeration
trench.
F. Lay horizontal drain pipes to uniform grade; 1/8" per foot minimum,
riser pipes, vertival. No screwed joints permitted in drain pipes,
except as described herein before.
G. Where laid on fill, provide adequate pipe supports to maintain pitch
of the line.
H. Sizes of water system piping as shown on the drawings. Verify any
omitted sizes. In general, pipe shall be sized to insure adequate
flow in the branches, especially in regard to flush valves. Pitch
hot water lines to drain at fixtures. Run domestic water pipe
overhead where possible.
I. Cut brass copper pipe by means of hacksaw. Remove all burrs and
metal chips, dirt, etc., before jointing pipe. Chrome plated pipe
shall show no wrench marks after installation; no threads shall
show.
J. Adequately support all piping. So that no extreme vise deflection
will result and no undue strain wiii be imposed on any joints or
fittings. Maximum spacing between pipe supports as follows:

A. Isolate all major piping assemblies as shown oa the drawings .and as

15A.3.3 Installation of Traps: Trap each fixture by water sealing, and vent
all traps.
15A.3.f� Installation of Pipe Sleeves:
A. Install pipe sleeves through walls, floors or ceilings above or
below grade. • •
B. All sleeves in exterior wails shall be filled with sealant.
15A.3.5 Installation of Air Chambers: Install bellows air hammer arrestor at
each fixture.
15A.3.6 Installation of Fixture Trim and Fittings:
A. Install trim and fittings and anchor each fixture.

15A.3.7 Installation of Pipe Insulation: Install insulation according to
manufacturer's printed instructions. Do not insulate chrome plated
piping at plumbing fixtures.
15A.3.8 Application of Protective coating: Paint all buried or concealed steel
pipe with two coats of black asphalt emulsion paint. I# '
15A.3.9 Trenching and Backfilling: Trenches shall provide uniform bearing.
Where rock in encountered, excavate 3" below the pipe and refill to
pipe grade. After testing of piping, trenches shall be backfilled to
grade, tamped to 95% compaction.
15A.3.10 Electrical Equipment and Wiring: Control wiring and devices required,
including wiring, boxes, etc., shall be furnished and installed under
this section, unless shown in the electrical plans or specifications.
15A.3.11 Winn -Dixie Fixture and Equipment Connections: Connect all fixtures
and equipment complete as required for operation.
15A.3.12 Tests and Inspections:
A. Make all water and air tests of the piping systems before work is
concealed.
B. Test water piping to hydrostatic pressure of 125 psi and hold for
24 hours.
C. After the installation of sanitary piping, plug the ends of the
system and fill with water to top of vents. Should leaks appear,
repair, and repeat the tests until the system is tight.
15A.3.13 Sterilization: The sterilization process shall comply with all
governing regulations. After sterilization and final flushing, the
local health authority is to be notified, and their approval obtained
in writing.
15A.3.14 As-Built Drawings: The plumbing contractor shall furnish Wi.nn-Dixie,
upon completion of the work, a plumbing plan sepia showing all piping
below grade as installed. -
SECTION 158 - SPRINKLF� SYSTEK: The requirements of Division I apply t o all
work hereunder:. special instructions regarding Mechanical, Plumbing and Electri-
cal.trades shall apply to this section wherein applicable.
158.1 GENERAL .
158.1.1 Scope: Furnish all labor, materials and equipment required for New
Sprinkler System in new building areas.
158.1.2 Work Included:
A. Install new sprinklers and accessories in all areas not protected by
a sprinkler system as required for a first - class, complete system.
Sprinkler system shall be complete in accordance with Bullentin•No. 13
as published by the National Board of Fire Underwriters. "
B. Prepare shop drawings and submit to proper Fire Underwriters for
approval prior to commencement of installation. Install work in
accordance with their approval.
C. Submit shop drawings to Winn- Dixie.
- D. Furnish and install all items required for a complete first -class
installation, or that are essential for the proper operation of the
work indicated.' '
E. Do no cutting or patching of structural members without prior
approval by the Architect. Where chases occur in masonry walls, layout
accurately for the masonry contractor; masonry contractor shall cut
chases.
F. All tuilding areas receiving finish ceilings shall hcvo chrme
plated sprinkler heads and escutcheons. The escutcheons shall ha two -
piece removable type.
G. Fire Department connections shall be "UL" labeled bronze type.
Bronze plate shall be lattered "Auto Sprinkler ".
H. Signs shall be provided for all control, drain, test and alarm
. valves. Signs shall be minimum 20 gauge sheet metal, pickled and
treated, with baked -on enamel white lettering and border on red
background.
I. Project pipes in areas subject to freezing.
J. Install backflow preventer size as required by local authority.
158.1.3 As Built Drawings: Furnish as -built drawings in accordance with
Division I of these specifications.
15B.1.4 Main Valve: Location of main valve as approved by Winn- Diii.e.' No
other building shall be. serviced by.main valve serving Winn - Dixie.
SECTION 150 - AIR CONDITIONING, HEATING, & VENTILATING
15C.1 GENERAL
150:1.1 Scope: Furnish all labor, materials and equipment necessary to install
air conditioning; heating, and ventilating work indicated on the
drawings, and as specified herein.
150.1.2 Electrical Vork: All wiring, including control wiring shall be
included under the Electrical Section of these specifications.
1.3 Submittal Data: Submit to Winn -Dixie for approval, five (5) copies of
the equipment brochures, technical data, and /or shop drawings. (New
Equipment only).
15C.1.4 Nose and Vibration: Equipment shall operate quietly. The operation of
the Equipment shall cause no perceptive vibration of objectional noise
in any portion of the building or structure.
15C.1.5 Equipment Anchorage: Provide -all materials an labor required for roof
mounted equipment anchorage to building structure.
15C.1.6 Maintenance Manuals and Instructions: Furnish three (3) sets of
operating instructions covering all new equipment for heating,
ventilating and air conditioning system.
15C.2 PRODUCTS
i5C.2.1 Sheet Metal Work and Ductwork:
A. Supply galvanized steel sheet metal work, in the heating, air
conditioning and/or ventilation system in accordance with ASHRAE and
SHACNA Standards. -
B. Rectangular ducts over 12" wide shall be cross broken, except where
ductwork is to be insulated.
C. Provide flexible duct connections in ducts as required.
Secure connections with galvanized channels. Provide a
braided copper bridge strap across flexible. connections.
D. Dimensions indicated cn the drawings are free area. Where ducts
• • are lined, increase dimensions to accommodate insulation thickness.
E. Apply Childers CP -70 on joints of ductwork.
150.2.2 Manual Dampers:
A. Provide approved manual dampers (louver), or splitter dampers, where
shown on the drawings and where necessary for the proper regulation
of the air handling system, and so located as to be accessible.
B: Install fusible link operated fire dampers in all locations required
by local and state ordinances of a type NFPA approved. Provide
access. Approval of Winn -Dixie for access door location is required.
150.2.3 Grill, Register and Diffusers:
A. Pattern, arrangemeat, and size indicated are Tuttle. and Bailey.
Equivalent appearance and performance will be acceptable with all

150.2.6 Motors: Motors one horsepower (1hp) or over: 208 volts, 3 phase, 60
cycle; Motors smaller than one horsepower: 120 volts, 1 phase, 60
cycle.
15C.2.7 Exhaust Fans: Fans shall be as indicated on drawings.
15C.2.8 Exhaust Moods: Shari be as indicated on drawings. Provide dry
chemical fire extinguishing system to meet all applicable codes.
150.2.9 Grease Filter: Provide filters as indicated on drawings.
15C.2.10 Controls: Controls shall be as indicated on drawings.
150.2.11 Air Handling IInit: Furnish and install A/H unit and /or units as
indicated on the drawings. All necessary supports, fittings, curbs,
flashings, etc., shall be provided as•required.
150.2.12 Condensing IInit: Furnish and install condensing unit and/or units as
indicated on the drawings.
i5C.2.13 Refrigeration and Pipe Fitting: .
A. Furnish and install all necessary piping for A/H unit and condensing
units.
B. Piping: Type "L" hard drawn copper tubing. Fittings: Wrought

15C.2.14 Refrigerant Insulation: Insulate refrigerant and condensate piping
above ground floor with 3/4" Owens - Corning Company O.C. flexible tubing
insulation. Apply per manufacturer's directions.
15C.2.15 Starters and Wiring: Furnish approved automatic or manual starters for
all motors called for in this section of the specifications. Turn all
starters over to the Electrical Contractor for installation.
15C.2.16 Neat Reclaim Coil: Furnish and install heat reclaim coil and/or coils
as indicated on drawings. Piping shall be by Winn- Dixie.
15C.3 EXECDTION .
15C.3.1: Ductwork: Installation shall be rigid and ductwork free from rattles
an air noises when in operation.
15C.3.2 Supervision of Electrical Work: This contractor shall be responsible
for supervision ,of all wiring including control wiring of equipment .
I included in this section and -shall furnish all necessary diagrams
required, including control working diagrams.
15C.3.3 Piping Equipment, Etc.: Entire installation shall be in accordance
with the drawings, specification and applicable requirements of the
manufacturer's of the equipment and shall perform satisfactory at the
completion of the work.
15C.3.4 Painting:
A. Except as specified herein, all paluci:iz wiii be aone by others.
• Leave work free from rust, dirt, grease and plaster.
B. Equipment with a factory applied finish shall have scratches, chips,
etc., primed and touched up with materials which will protect the
surface and match.the adjacent areas.

15C.3.5 Cleaning and Adjustments: Upon completion of work, clean, oil, and -
grease all fans, motors, other running equipment and apparatus and make
certain that all such apparatus and mechanisms are in proper working
order and made ready for test.
150.3.6 Test •and Balance: Each •system shall be balanced to assure design
performance. After final installation of all equipment, a complete
test and balance shall be performed on all air distribution, condenser,
• chilled and hot water systems or circuits. Test to be made by
qualified mechanical contractor and test report sent to Winn- Dixie.
i5C.3.7 Refrigerant Piping Test:
A. Test piping, equipment, valves and fittings after installation.
Test for Freon 12 refrigerant to a pressure of-200 psi of the high
side. introducing dry carbon dioxide (CO2) throughout the freon
circuit. For Freon 22, the test pressure shall be 300 psi. Bubble
test all joints with soap lather. .
B. Wipe piping clean of soap an pump out the carbon dioxide. Introduce
• a test charge of freon vapor and leak test all joints with a halide
torch. Finally, the Freon shall be pumped out and the entire
circuit placed under 29.7" of canuumi and allowed to stand sealed for
a period of eight (8) hours without noticeable loss of vacuum. Do
all testing in the presence of a Winn -Dixie representative.
DIVISION 16 - E1ECTRICAL
SECTION- I6A,-ELECTRICAL YORK
16A.1 GENERAL •
16A.1.1 Scope:
A. Furnish all labor, materials, equipment and accessories necessary to
install a complete and proper operating electrical system which
includes all electrical work as indicated on the drawings and
specified herein.
. B. Extend the service from the point of service attachment furnishing
all protective devices (except motor starters furnished by others).,
conductors, supports, raceways, etc., to service motor loads,
lighting leads and miscellaneous electrical loads.
C. Contractor shall review all drawings and specifications to become
thoroughly familiar with wiring details. All data presented is as
accurate as preliminary surveys and planning can determine, but
accuracy is not guaranteed. Discrepancies found on different
drawings or between drawings and specifications shall be brought
promptly to the attention of Winn -Dixie for a decision, before
proceeding with the installation.
16A.1.2 A13 electrically operated equipment specified in Division I .
will be furnished and installed in -place by Winn -Dixie ready for
electrical connections.
16A.1.3 Services: Electrical service and metering will be supplied by the
local utility authority for 120/208 volt, 3 phase, 4 wire, "WYE"
connection.
16A.1.4 Codes: Comply with the requirements of the latest edition of the-
. National Electrical. Code, and applicable rules and regulations of local
and state laws and ordinances. .
16A.1.5 Shop Drawings: Submit a list of principle material items, giving
manufacturer's names and catalog numbers. Approval of the list shall
be obtained from Vim -Dixie before orders are placed. Shop drawings
shall be submitted for panelboards. Submit catalog cut sheets of all
lighting fixtures for approval, three (3) copies of each.
16A.1.6 Changes: The drawings indicate generally the locations of electrical

16A.2 PRODUCTS
16A.2.1 General: In general, materials and apparatus shall comply with all
applicable tests, ratings, specifications and requirements of the IEEE
and NEMA and shall bear the approved device label of the Underwriters'
Lanoracorles, Inc. .
i6A.2.2 Circuit Protective Devices:
A. General: Unless otherwise indicated, all branch circuit protective
device enclosures shall be NEMA Type I, general purpose. Circuit
Protective devices installed outdoors or exposed to the weather shall
. have weatherproof enclosures, NEMA Type 3R or Type 4.
B. Switchboards:
1. GENERAL: Furnish and install the service entrance switchboard
(and Distribution switchboards) as herin specified and shown on
the associated electrical drawings. (The switchboard(s) shall
meet Underwriters' Laboratories enclosure requirements).
2. Enclosure Construction: The switchboard framework shall be
fabricated on the die - formed steel base of base assembly
consisting of formed steel and commercial channel welded or
bolted together to support the entire shipping unit for moving
on rollers and floor mounting. •
The framework is to be formed code gauge steel, rigidly welded
and bolted together to support all cover plates, bussing, and
component devices during shipment and installation.
Each switchboard section shall have an open bottom and
individual removable top plate for installation and termination
of conduit. Top and bottom conduit area is to be clearly shown
• and dimensioned on the shop drawings. The wireway front covers
are to be hinged to permit access to the branch breaker load
side terminals without removing the covers. All front plates
used for mounting meters, selector switches or other front
mounted devices shall be hinged with all wiring installed and
laced with flexibility at the hinged side. All closure plates
shall be screw removable and small enough for easy handling by
one man. The paint finish shall be gray enamel over a
rust- inhibiting phosphate primer.
3. BUSSING: The switchboard bussung shall be tin plated aluminum of
silver plated copper. Bus shall be located at top or bottom o-
the switchboard, as shown on the drawings. If the bus is
located at the bottom of the switchboard, it shall have a
sufficient cross sectional area to continuously conduct rated

i5A.3.1 Installation Precautions:
A. All electrical, plumbing and underfloor duct roughing -in work in
floor must be completed, all pullbox forms must be in place; fine
grading and screen work finished before the above work is checked,
as to a sub location by Vim-Dixie representative.
B. Make all joints in bell an spigot or "no hub" piping with oakum,
well driven in and molten pig lead poured full at one pouring, then
caulk thoroughly until air - tight. Make screw joints between cast
iron pipes and other pipes water -tight with compound.
C. Make joints in vitrified clay pipe using oakum and stiff mix of sand
and cement, or neoprene gaskets.
D. Make joints on copper pipe using solder. •
E. Make joints in plastic underfloor duct as recommended by pipe
manufacturer. Lay plastic pipe with gradual slope to refrigeration
trench.
F. Lay horizontal drain pipes to uniform grade; 1/8" per foot minimum,
riser pipes, vertival. No screwed joints permitted in drain pipes,
except as described herein before.
G. Where laid on fill, provide adequate pipe supports to maintain pitch
of the line.
H. Sizes of water system piping as shown on the drawings. Verify any
omitted sizes. In general, pipe shall be sized to insure adequate
flow in the branches, especially in regard to flush valves. Pitch
hot water lines to drain at fixtures. Run domestic water pipe
overhead where possible.
I. Cut brass copper pipe by means of hacksaw. Remove all burrs and
metal chips, dirt, etc., before jointing pipe. Chrome plated pipe
shall show no wrench marks after installation; no threads shall
show.
J. Adequately support all piping. So that no extreme vise deflection
will result and no undue strain wiii be imposed on any joints or
fittings. Maximum spacing between pipe supports as follows:

all traps.

15A.3.9 Trenching and Backfilling: Trenches shall provide uniform bearing.
Where rock in encountered, excavate 3" below the pipe and refill to
pipe grade. After testing of piping, trenches shall be backfilled to
grade, tamped to 95% compaction.
15A.3.10 Electrical Equipment and Wiring: Control wiring and devices required,
including wiring, boxes, etc., shall be furnished and installed under
this section, unless shown in the electrical plans or specifications.
15A.3.11 Winn -Dixie Fixture and Equipment Connections: Connect all fixtures
and equipment complete as required for operation.
15A.3.12 Tests and Inspections:
A. Make all water and air tests of the piping systems before work is
concealed.
B. Test water piping to hydrostatic pressure of 125 psi and hold for
24 hours.
C. After the installation of sanitary piping, plug the ends of the
system and fill with water to top of vents. Should leaks appear,
repair, and repeat the tests until the system is tight.
15A.3.13 Sterilization: The sterilization process shall comply with all
governing regulations. After sterilization and final flushing, the
local health authority is to be notified, and their approval obtained
in writing.
15A.3.14 As-Built Drawings: The plumbing contractor shall furnish Wi.nn-Dixie,
upon completion of the work, a plumbing plan sepia showing all piping
below grade as installed. -
SECTION 158 - SPRINKLF� SYSTEK: The requirements of Division I apply t o all
work hereunder:. special instructions regarding Mechanical, Plumbing and Electri-
cal.trades shall apply to this section wherein applicable.
158.1 GENERAL .
158.1.1 Scope: Furnish all labor, materials and equipment required for New
Sprinkler System in new building areas.
158.1.2 Work Included:
A. Install new sprinklers and accessories in all areas not protected by
a sprinkler system as required for a first - class, complete system.
Sprinkler system shall be complete in accordance with Bullentin•No. 13
as published by the National Board of Fire Underwriters. "
B. Prepare shop drawings and submit to proper Fire Underwriters for
approval prior to commencement of installation. Install work in
accordance with their approval.
C. Submit shop drawings to Winn- Dixie.
- D. Furnish and install all items required for a complete first -class
installation, or that are essential for the proper operation of the
work indicated.' '
E. Do no cutting or patching of structural members without prior
approval by the Architect. Where chases occur in masonry walls, layout
accurately for the masonry contractor; masonry contractor shall cut
chases.
F. All tuilding areas receiving finish ceilings shall hcvo chrme
plated sprinkler heads and escutcheons. The escutcheons shall ha two -
piece removable type.
G. Fire Department connections shall be "UL" labeled bronze type.
Bronze plate shall be lattered "Auto Sprinkler ".
H. Signs shall be provided for all control, drain, test and alarm
. valves. Signs shall be minimum 20 gauge sheet metal, pickled and
treated, with baked -on enamel white lettering and border on red
background.
I. Project pipes in areas subject to freezing.
J. Install backflow preventer size as required by local authority.
158.1.3 As Built Drawings: Furnish as -built drawings in accordance with
Division I of these specifications.
15B.1.4 Main Valve: Location of main valve as approved by Winn- Diii.e.' No
other building shall be. serviced by.main valve serving Winn - Dixie.
SECTION 150 - AIR CONDITIONING, HEATING, & VENTILATING
15C.1 GENERAL
150:1.1 Scope: Furnish all labor, materials and equipment necessary to install
air conditioning; heating, and ventilating work indicated on the
drawings, and as specified herein.
150.1.2 Electrical Vork: All wiring, including control wiring shall be
included under the Electrical Section of these specifications.
1.3 Submittal Data: Submit to Winn -Dixie for approval, five (5) copies of
the equipment brochures, technical data, and /or shop drawings. (New
Equipment only).
15C.1.4 Nose and Vibration: Equipment shall operate quietly. The operation of
the Equipment shall cause no perceptive vibration of objectional noise
in any portion of the building or structure.
15C.1.5 Equipment Anchorage: Provide -all materials an labor required for roof
mounted equipment anchorage to building structure.
15C.1.6 Maintenance Manuals and Instructions: Furnish three (3) sets of
operating instructions covering all new equipment for heating,
ventilating and air conditioning system.
15C.2 PRODUCTS
i5C.2.1 Sheet Metal Work and Ductwork:
A. Supply galvanized steel sheet metal work, in the heating, air
conditioning and/or ventilation system in accordance with ASHRAE and
SHACNA Standards. -

insulation. Apply per manufacturer's directions.
15C.2.15 Starters and Wiring: Furnish approved automatic or manual starters for
all motors called for in this section of the specifications. Turn all
starters over to the Electrical Contractor for installation.
15C.2.16 Neat Reclaim Coil: Furnish and install heat reclaim coil and/or coils
as indicated on drawings. Piping shall be by Winn- Dixie.
15C.3 EXECDTION .
15C.3.1: Ductwork: Installation shall be rigid and ductwork free from rattles
an air noises when in operation.
15C.3.2 Supervision of Electrical Work: This contractor shall be responsible
for supervision ,of all wiring including control wiring of equipment .
I included in this section and -shall furnish all necessary diagrams
required, including control working diagrams.
15C.3.3 Piping Equipment, Etc.: Entire installation shall be in accordance
with the drawings, specification and applicable requirements of the
manufacturer's of the equipment and shall perform satisfactory at the
completion of the work.
15C.3.4 Painting:
A. Except as specified herein, all paluci:iz wiii be aone by others.
• Leave work free from rust, dirt, grease and plaster.
B. Equipment with a factory applied finish shall have scratches, chips,
etc., primed and touched up with materials which will protect the
surface and match.the adjacent areas.

15C.3.5 Cleaning and Adjustments: Upon completion of work, clean, oil, and -
grease all fans, motors, other running equipment and apparatus and make
certain that all such apparatus and mechanisms are in proper working
order and made ready for test.
150.3.6 Test •and Balance: Each •system shall be balanced to assure design
performance. After final installation of all equipment, a complete
test and balance shall be performed on all air distribution, condenser,
• chilled and hot water systems or circuits. Test to be made by
qualified mechanical contractor and test report sent to Winn- Dixie.
i5C.3.7 Refrigerant Piping Test:
A. Test piping, equipment, valves and fittings after installation.
Test for Freon 12 refrigerant to a pressure of-200 psi of the high
side. introducing dry carbon dioxide (CO2) throughout the freon
circuit. For Freon 22, the test pressure shall be 300 psi. Bubble
test all joints with soap lather. .
B. Wipe piping clean of soap an pump out the carbon dioxide. Introduce
• a test charge of freon vapor and leak test all joints with a halide
torch. Finally, the Freon shall be pumped out and the entire
circuit placed under 29.7" of canuumi and allowed to stand sealed for
a period of eight (8) hours without noticeable loss of vacuum. Do
all testing in the presence of a Winn -Dixie representative.
DIVISION 16 - E1ECTRICAL
SECTION- I6A,-ELECTRICAL YORK
16A.1 GENERAL •
16A.1.1 Scope:
A. Furnish all labor, materials, equipment and accessories necessary to
install a complete and proper operating electrical system which
includes all electrical work as indicated on the drawings and
specified herein.
. B. Extend the service from the point of service attachment furnishing
all protective devices (except motor starters furnished by others).,
conductors, supports, raceways, etc., to service motor loads,
lighting leads and miscellaneous electrical loads.
C. Contractor shall review all drawings and specifications to become
thoroughly familiar with wiring details. All data presented is as
accurate as preliminary surveys and planning can determine, but
accuracy is not guaranteed. Discrepancies found on different
drawings or between drawings and specifications shall be brought
promptly to the attention of Winn -Dixie for a decision, before
proceeding with the installation.
16A.1.2 A13 electrically operated equipment specified in Division I .
will be furnished and installed in -place by Winn -Dixie ready for
electrical connections.
16A.1.3 Services: Electrical service and metering will be supplied by the
local utility authority for 120/208 volt, 3 phase, 4 wire, "WYE"
connection.
16A.1.4 Codes: Comply with the requirements of the latest edition of the-
. National Electrical. Code, and applicable rules and regulations of local
and state laws and ordinances. .
16A.1.5 Shop Drawings: Submit a list of principle material items, giving
manufacturer's names and catalog numbers. Approval of the list shall
be obtained from Vim -Dixie before orders are placed. Shop drawings
shall be submitted for panelboards. Submit catalog cut sheets of all
lighting fixtures for approval, three (3) copies of each.
16A.1.6 Changes: The drawings indicate generally the locations of electrical

16A.2 PRODUCTS
16A.2.1 General: In general, materials and apparatus shall comply with all
applicable tests, ratings, specifications and requirements of the IEEE
and NEMA and shall bear the approved device label of the Underwriters'
Lanoracorles, Inc. .
i6A.2.2 Circuit Protective Devices:
A. General: Unless otherwise indicated, all branch circuit protective
device enclosures shall be NEMA Type I, general purpose. Circuit
Protective devices installed outdoors or exposed to the weather shall
. have weatherproof enclosures, NEMA Type 3R or Type 4.
B. Switchboards:
1. GENERAL: Furnish and install the service entrance switchboard
(and Distribution switchboards) as herin specified and shown on
the associated electrical drawings. (The switchboard(s) shall
meet Underwriters' Laboratories enclosure requirements).
2. Enclosure Construction: The switchboard framework shall be
fabricated on the die - formed steel base of base assembly
consisting of formed steel and commercial channel welded or
bolted together to support the entire shipping unit for moving
on rollers and floor mounting. •
The framework is to be formed code gauge steel, rigidly welded
and bolted together to support all cover plates, bussing, and
component devices during shipment and installation.
Each switchboard section shall have an open bottom and
individual removable top plate for installation and termination
of conduit. Top and bottom conduit area is to be clearly shown
• and dimensioned on the shop drawings. The wireway front covers
are to be hinged to permit access to the branch breaker load
side terminals without removing the covers. All front plates
used for mounting meters, selector switches or other front
mounted devices shall be hinged with all wiring installed and
laced with flexibility at the hinged side. All closure plates
shall be screw removable and small enough for easy handling by
one man. The paint finish shall be gray enamel over a
rust- inhibiting phosphate primer.
3. BUSSING: The switchboard bussung shall be tin plated aluminum of
silver plated copper. Bus shall be located at top or bottom o-
the switchboard, as shown on the drawings. If the bus is
located at the bottom of the switchboard, it shall have a
sufficient cross sectional area to continuously conduct rated
full load current, as shown on drawings, with a maximum

temperature rise of 65 degrees C above an ambient temperature of
40 degrees C. If the bus is located at the top, it shall have
sufficient cross sectional area to continuously conduct full •
• load current based on 750 amps per square inch aluminum or 1000
amps, above 2000 amps per square inch copper. Whrer bars must
be paralleled to satisfy current requirements, bars may be
stacked up to and including 2000 amps, above 2000 amps bars must
be spaced apart at least one bar thickness (except at joints and
r terminals). Switchboard shall have a 25% full length ground bus
and a full length 100% capacity neutral bus.

The switchboard shall be suitable for use as service entrance W
equipment. The main horizontal bus shall be located at the back "

of the switchboard to permit a maximum of available conduit
area. The end section shall have bus provisions for future
addition. The provisions shall include the bus installed to the
extreme side of the switchboard and prepunched to facilitate ,
,
future bolted splice plates. The horizontal main bus supports,
connections, and joints *shall be bolted with grade 5 carriage
' bolts and $elleville washers. The main horizontal bus shall be
the same size, continuous throughout the switchboard.
Each switchboard, as a complete unit, shall be given a full, not
integrated or series, short circuit equipment rating by the
equipment manufacturer. The equiplment manufacturer shall
certify that the short - circuit rating of each item in the
assembled equipment is capable of withstanding the stresses of a
fault equal to 50,000 amperes RKS symmetrical. Such rating
shall be established by actual• tests by the manufacturer on ' m

circuit breakers, with shunt trip capability suitable for the
available short circuit current shall be used.

•7: MAIN AND BRANCH MOLDED CASE CIRCUIT BREAKERS: These
specifications covers molded case circuit breakers rated (15)
through (2000) amperes (130 V AC) (240 V AC) (480 V AC) (600 V
AC). All devices shall be UL listed and meet NEMA Standards
Publication No. AB1 -1969. All devices shall meet Federal
Specification No. Y- C375a. Where applicable, breakers covered
under this specification may be installed in switchboards,
panelboards, motor control centers, combination centers,
combination motor starters, busway'plugs and individual
enclosures. Circuit breakers shall be Square D, FA, KA, LA, MA,
PA, or PE circuit breakers as indicated on the Drawings and
shall have trip ratings as shown. .
CONSTRUCTION: Molded case circuit breakers shall be quick -make
and quick -break type. They shall be wiping type contacts. Each
shall be provided with arc chutes, individual trip mechanisms on
each pole. Two and three -pole breakers shall be common trip.
. All breakers shall be calibrated for operation in an ambient
temperature of 4fl C. Molded case circuit breakers shall be
trip -free. Each breaker shall have trip indications independent
of the ON or OFF positions.
LUGS: Breakers shall have front removable lugs for easy
• maintenance. Lugs shall be UL listed for both copper and
aluminum cables.
8. BOLTED PRESSURE CONTACT SWITCHES .(MANUALLY OPERATED): The (main
