WHEREAS, the Miami-Dade County Community Action Agency administers the Meals
for the Elderly Program, is provides of meals tote seniors at the Senior Center during the
week; and
WHEREAS, the City of South Miami has participated in the Meals forte Elderly
Program for some time now; and
WHEREAS, in order to continue the service the City must enter into a contract with the
Miami-Dade County Community Action Agency.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION • THE CITY • SOUTH MIAMI:
Section 1. The contract to continue the Meals for the Elderly Program at the
Senior Center is hereby approved.
Section 2. The City Manager is authorized to execute the applicable contract and
other documents related documents as required by the Miami-Dade County Commission Action
Agency.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon execution.

few years. This program, administered by the Miami-Dade County Community Action Agency
(CAA), provides hot meals to the elderly at the Senior Center Monday through Friday.
To continue the service, the City is required to renew the contract the Miami-Dade
County CAA on an annual basis. The attached resolution would allow the City Manager
to execute the contract and other applicable documents. A copy • the contract is

WHEREAS, the Board through Resolution R-1 522-02 allthorized the County
Manager to receive and expend Title 111-C, Older Americans Act grant funds for the
continued operation and administration of CANS Meals for the Elderly Program; and
WHEREAS, the Provider desires to continue participating in CANS Meals for
the Elderly, and the County desires to continue providing meals at the Providers
facility known as South Miami, 6701 SW 62 Avenue, South Miami;
111. SCOPE OF SERVICES. The Provider agrees to render services in accordance with
the Scope of Services incorporated herein and attached hereto as Attachment A.
111. EFFECTIVE TERM. The effedtive term of this Contract shall be from Janua[y 1.
2003 to December 31, 2008.
A. Government Entily. Government entity shall indemnify and hold harmless the
County and its officers, employees, agents and instrumentalities from any and all liability,
losses or damages, including attorney's fees and costs of defense, which the County or its

Insurance indicating that insurance coverage has been obtained which meets
requirements as outlined below: I
a. Workers Compensation Insurance for all employees of the Provider as
required by Florida Statute 440.
.b. Public Liability Insurance • a compreh . ensive basis in an amount not
less than $300,000 combined single limit per occurrence for bodily injury and property
damage. Miami-Dade County must be shown as an additional insured with respect to this
coverage.

C. The County Manager is authorized to terminate this Contract on behalf
of the County.

The Office of the Inspector General shall have the power to analyze the need for, and

counterpart shall constitute an original of this Contract.
F. Totali!Y of Contract/Severability of Provisions. This ten (10) page Contract with
it recitals on the first page of the Contract and with its attachments as referenced below
contain all the terms and conditions agreed upon by the parties:

provide maintenance and cleaning services day, and on an as needed
basis.

garbage collection at no cost to the County or CAA-
