No. 064-03-11613RESOLUTION NO.64-03-1161 3 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI,FLORIDA,ACCEPTING THE SPECIAL WATER INFRASTRUCTURE GRANT FROM THE U.S. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY IN THE AMOUNT OF $485,000;AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE APPLICABLE CONTRACTS AND DOCUMENTS;AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS,the U.S.Environmental Protection Agency has approved the Special Water Infrastructure grant fortheCity of South Miami,under the State and Tribal Assistance Grant (STAG)program through legislative appropriations under the VA/HUD Bill;and ." WHEREAS,theCity of SouthMiamiwas granted thesum of $485,000 for water infrastructure improvements forthe Multipurpose Center,Downtown Business District and Church Street;and WHEREAS,saidgrantfundswillbe matched bytheEDIand EDA funding sources in an amount not to exceed $396,000. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI: Section 1.TheCityManagerisauthorizedtoaccepttheSpecialWater Infrastructure Grant inthe amount of $485,000. Section 2.TheCity Manager is authorized to execute contracts and other documents applicable tothe acceptance of the grant award. Section3.Thisresolutionshalltakeeffectimmediatelyuponapproval. BACKGROUND &ANALYSIS Aspart of ouraggressiveCitywideCapitalImprovementefforts,wehavebeenawardedaspecial appropriationsgrant of $485,000throughtheUSEnvironmentalProtectionAgency.ThisState andTribalAssistanceGrantwasofferedthroughlegislativeappropriationsundertheVA/HUD Billforinfrastructureimprovements(waterdistributionanddrainagesystemimprovements).The grantfunds55%of allapprovedcostsincurreduptoandnotexceeding$485,000forthe followingprojectslistedinourapplication: •Downtown Infrastructure Improvements * a Church Street Improvements a Multipurpose Center -Phase II •MultipurposeCenterOnsite/OffsiteImprovements Accordingtotheagreementall activities/projects mostbecompletedbyMarch2004.
