No. 101-04-11880RESOLUTION NO.101-04-11880 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI,FLORIDA,RELATING TO AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CHANGE ORDER AGREEMENT WITH PETRO HYDRO,INC.FOR ADDITIONAL CONSTRUCTION SERVICES UNDER DOWNTOWN IMPROVEMENTS -PHASE II,FOR THE AMOUNT OF $37,000 TO BE CHARGED TO THE US ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY STATE TRIBAL ASSISTANCE GRANT AND THE PEOPLE'S TRANSPORTATION TAX ACCOUNT NUMBERS 001-0000-132-2061 AND 124- 1730-541-3450;PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS,the Mayor andCity Commission wishes to continue providing much needed infrastructure improvements withinthedowntowncorridor,toinclude relocating an electrical panel withinthesidewalk,sidewalk construction andfulfilling transportation needsby providing traffic calming,and; WHEREAS,the Mayor andCity Commission authorize theCity Manager to execute a construction change order contractwithPetroHydro,Inc.foradditional construction services withinthe DowntownDrainageImprovements-PhaseIIforanamount of $37,000.00. NOW THEREFORE,BEIT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI,FLORIDA,THAT: Section1:Thecitywishestoincreasethescope of work of Petro-Hydro,Inc.forthe construction of the Downtown Improvement project. Section2:Theprojectwillbe funded throughgrantsfromtheUS Environmental Protection Agency'sStateTribalAssistanceGrant (STAG)andthePeople'sTransportationTaxaccount numbers 001 -0000-132-2061 and 124-1730-541 -3450. Section 3:ThattheMayorandCityCommission authorize theCity Manager to execute a change orderwith Petro Hydro,Inc.for additional construction services withinthe Downtown Improvements-PhaseII project fortheamountof$37,000.00. The construction project consisted of drainage improvements,water main extension,fire hydrants installation,wider sidewalks,street furniture,roadway rehabilitation,lighting, landscaping and pavement marking.With additional funding becoming available,weare recommending increasing the scope of construction work to include electrical panel relocation to further provide safe access to sidewalk users,improvements tothe streetlights andmuch needed traffic calming within the downtown corridor. This project will be funded through grants from the US EPA State Tribal Assistance Grant (STAG)and the People's Transportation Tax,with account balances of $174,007.25 and $20,000 (FY 2003/04 Downtown Improvements project only). RECOMMENDATION: ItisrecommendedthattheCityCommissionapprovethefundingforthework.
