A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF SOUTH MIAMI,FLORIDA,RELATING TO CITY SPONSORSHIP OF THE
67™ANNUAL ROYAL POINCIANA FIESTA;AUTHORIZING THE USEOF
CITY FACILITIES;AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO TAKE
APPROPRIATE ACTIONS TO COOPERATE WITH THE FESTIVAL
COMMITTEE IN ASSURING A SUCCESSFUL EVENT;AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS,the Royal Poinciana Fiesta,scheduled to take place on June 5th and 6,h of 2004.is
the oldest continuous running festival in Miami-Dade County:and
WHEREAS,thegoalsand purpose of thisannualfestivalareto promote an awareness and
appreciation of the importance of all desirable trees,especially theRoyal Poinciana.toa healthy and
attractive environment;and
WHEREAS,theCity of SouthMiamisharesthe desire to promote such awareness andto
promotetheplantingandcare of desirabletreesthroughoutthecity;and
WHEREAS,theRoyal Poinciana Fiestaiswidely advertised and attended,bringing positive
media attention andpublic awareness of theareas wherein itishostedeachyear.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI:
Section I.That the City of SouthMiamiis proud to sponsor and support theRoyal
Poinciana Fiesta this year,providing use of city property and facilities forthe two-day event.
Section 2.That the City Manager is hereby authorized totake and/or direct those actions
shesees appropriate fortheCitytohelpinsurethesuccess of this year's festival
Section 3.That this resolution shalltake effect immediately upon execution.
