No. 03-02-1771ORDINANCE NO.3-02-1771 AN ORDINANCE OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI,FLORIDA RELATING TO BOARDS AND COMMITTEES;AMENDING SECTION 2-26.1(B)(1)OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES ENTITLED "JUNIOR COMMISSION FOR WOMEN"TO INCLUDE STUDENTS OF SOUTH MIAMI SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL AS PART OF THE MEMBERSHIP QUALIFICATION CRITERIA;PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY,ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT,AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS,the Mayor andCity Commission of theCity of South Miami created theJunior Commission For Women toserveinanadvisorycapacitytotheCommission For Women andtotheMayorandCityCommissionbymakinginvestigations,studies, reports andrecommendationsinrespecttoallmatters pertaining tothestatus of young women inthe City andinareaschools;and WHEREAS,theCityCommissionrecognizestheimportantroleand outstanding contributionsSouthMiamiSeniorHighSchoolstudentsmaketothiscommunity;and WHEREAS,theMayorandCityCommissiondesiretoincludeaspart of the membershipandqualification criteria forthe Junior Commission For Women,students of South Miami Senior High School. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI,FLORIDA: Section1.Section 2-26.1(b)(1)entitled"Junior Commission For Women,"is herebyamendedasfollows "Appointment and qualifications of members.Members of the Commission shallbeappointedbytheMayoras provided forinthe City Charter. Members shall:(1)Eitherbearesident of theCity,a student ata City Schoolora student at South Miami SeniorHighSchool. Section 2.If any section,clause,sentence,orphrase of thisordinanceisforany reason held invalidor unconstitutional byacourt of competent jurisdiction,theholding shallnot affect the validity of theremainingportions of thisordinance. Section3.All ordinancesorparts of ordinancesin conflict with theprovisions of thisordinancearerepealed. Section4.This ordinance shalltake effect immediately uponapproved.
