AN ORDINANCE OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI,FLORIDA RELATING TO BOARDS
AND COMMITTEES;AMENDING SECTION 2-26(B)OF THE CODE
OF ORDINANCES ENTITLED "COMMISSION FOR WOMEN"TO
INCLUDE FACULTY MEMBERS OF SOUTH MIAMI SENIOR HIGH
SCHOOL AS PART OF THE MEMBERSHIP CRITERIA;PROVIDING
FOR SEVERABILITY,ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT,AND AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS,theMayor and City Commission of theCity of South Miami created
theCommissionFor Women toserveinanadvisorycapacity by making investigations,
studies,reports and recommendations totheCity Commission,theCity Manager andthe
administration,andthecommunity,in respect toall matters pertaining tothe status of
women intheCity;and
WHEREAS,theCityCommission recognizes theimportantroleand outstanding
contributions faculty members of South Miami SeniorHighSchoolmakestothis
community;and
WHEREAS,theMayorandCityCommissiondesiretoincludeaspart of the
membership criteria fortheCommission For Womenfacultymembers of SouthMiami
SeniorHigh School.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI,FLORIDA:
Section1.Section2-26(b)entitled "Commission For Women"ishereby
amendedasfollows "Appointment andterms of members.Members of thecommission
shallbeappointed by themayorasprovidedintheCity Charter.Members of the
Commission shallbepermanentresidents,employed in business inthe City for two or
moreyearsorfaculty member of SouthMiamiSeniorHighSchool.Each member shall
havedemonstrateda commitment toimprovethecondition of women through
community andotherservice.Themembershipshouldreflecttheracialandethnic
diversity of theresidents of the City."
Section 2.If anysection,clause,sentence,orphrase of thisordinanceisforany
reason held invalidor unconstitutional by acourt of competent jurisdiction,theholding
shallnot affect the validity of theremainingportions of thisordinance.
Section3.All ordinancesor parts of ordinancesin conflict with theprovisions
of thisordinancearerepealed.
