A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF SOUTH MIAMI,FLORIDA,AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
RETROACTIVELY EXECUTE A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE MIAMI-
DADE COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF CULTURAL AFFAIRS FOR THE
SUNDAYS ON SUNSET CONCERT SERIES AND ACCEPT THE GRANT
AWARD OF$3,562 FROM THE FY 2005-2006 COMMUNITY GRANTS
PROGRAM -FIRST QUARTER;AUTHORIZING THE 1:1 DOLLAR MATCH
IN THE AMOUNT OF $3,562 TO BE CHARGED TO THE GENERAL FUND
NON-DEPARTMENTAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ACCOUNT NUMBER
001-2100-519-9931;PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS,theMayorandCityCommission wish toacceptaFirstQuarter FY 2005-
2006CommunityGrantfromthe Miami-Dade CountyDepartment of Cultural Affairsinthe
amount of $3,562.00for the SundaysonSunsetconcertseries;and
WHEREAS,thegrantawardwillprovide partial fundstosponsorandpromotethe
SundaysonSunset event;and
WHEREAS,thegrantrequiresadollar for dollarmatch which will comefromthe
GeneralFundNon-Departmental Economic Development line item in the amount of $3,562.00;
and
WHEREAS,the City was formally notified of the grant award on October 12th,2005,
andwasprovided with saidcontractagreementformstobeexecutednolaterthanOctober25,
2005;and
WHEREAS,the Mayorand City Commission retroactivelyauthorize the City Manager
to execute the grantcontract agreement for the FirstQuarter FY 2005-2006 Community Grant
program with Miami-Dade County Department ofCultural Affairs.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI,FLORIDA THAT:
Section 1.The City wishes to accept the FY 2005-2006 Community GrantsProgram-
FirstQuartergrantin the amount of $3,562.00.
Section 2.The 1:1dollar match will be provided from the GeneralFund Non-
Departmental Economic Development lineitem Account Number 001-2100-519-9931 inthe
amount of$3,562.00 with a current balance of$10,000.00.
Section 3.The Mayor and City Commission retroactively authorize the City Manager to
execute the FY 2005-2006 grant agreement with Miami-Dade Department ofCultural Affairs.
Section 4.This Resolution shallbe effective immediately upon adoption.

BACKGROUND &ANALYSIS:
The Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs Council approved a Community Grants
Program -First Quarter award in the amount of $3,562.00 to the City of South Miami for the
Sundays on Sunset monthly program.This FY 2005-06 award will be available for release
during the County's fiscal year (10/01 -9/30).The Cultural Affairs Council recommendation
wasforwardedtothe Miami-Dade County Mayor andBoardofCountyCommissionersfortheir
approvalattheirOctober 18,2005meeting.
The grant funds will beusedto further promote and market the monthly Sundays onSunset
event with thegreater expectation that additional residents,tourists and visitors will visit the
downtown area.Theopenairconcertandrelated activities aredesignedto provide an
opportunity to bring high quality jazz performances andother entertainment toanarea
experiencing cultural and community revitalization.
The required match,in theamountof $3,562.00,will come from theGeneralFund Non-
Departmental Economic Development Account Number 001-2100-519-9931 thatwas budgeted
for theSundaysonSunset program.Thisaccounthasacurrentbalanceof $10,000.00.
RECOMMENDATION:
TheAdministration recommends approvalandadoptionofthisresolution.
