A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, RELATING TO THE
CREATION OF A DEPUTY CLERK POSITION; REQUIRING
RETURN OF ITEM TO THE CITY COMMISSION FOR BUDGET
AMENDMENT APPROVAL, APPROVAL OF SALARY RANGE FOR
THE DEPUTY CLERK POSITION, CREATION OF A JOB
DESCRIPTION FOR THE POSITION OF DEPUTY CLERK; AND
RECOMMENDING NKENGA PAYNE FOR THE DEPUTY CLERK
POSITION; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission seeks to create the position of deputy clerk;
and,
WHEREAS, the City Commission directs the City Manager and City Attorney to
bring back to the commission a budget amendment to reflect the budget change, a
recommendation on a salary range for the deputy clerk position, and develop a job
description for the position of deputy clerk, which position shall require certification.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA; THAT
Section 1. The position of deputy clerk is hereby created.
Section 2. The City Manager and City Attorney shall bring back to the
Commission a budget amendment to reflect the budget change to reflect the new position,
a recommendation on a salary range for the Deputy Clerk position, and develop a job
description for the position of Deputy Clerk.
Section 3 The City Commission recommends Nkenga Payne for the position
of Deputy Clerk, provided she accepts the position, and meets the job description
requirements as approved by the City Commission at an upcoming meeting.
Section 4 This resolution shall take effect immediately upon approval,
however, Ms. Payne, if approved for the position, will commence the position upon
approval of the salary, job description, and budget amendment.
