No. 053-07-12438RESOLUTION NO. 53-07-12438 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DISBURSE $500.00 FROM THE POLICE DEPARTMENT'S STATE FORFEITURE FUND ACCOUNT #608- 1910 - 521 -5410 MEMBERSHIPSISUBSCRIPTIONS; IN SUPPORT OF "FLORIDA MISSING CHILDREN'S DAY 2007" OCCURRING ON SEPTEMBER 10, 2007; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the "Florida Missing Children's Day" was created by the Florida Legislature in 1999 to honor law enforcement officers and civilians statewide who have assisted in missing child cases; and WHEREAS, it will assist to increase statewide awareness to help prevent child abduction and sexual exploitation; and WHEREAS, the Police Department is requesting to use monies to support this cause which are available in the State Forfeiture Fund and is an allowable expenditure; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA THAT: Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to disburse $500.00 from the Police Department's State Forfeiture Fund "Membership /Subscriptions" Account # 608- 1910 - 521 -5410, with a beginning balance of $0. Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon execution. McLeod, President RE: Florida Missing Children's Day 2007 As your President of the Florida Police Chiefs Association, I am writing to ask for your support and help in recognizing Florida's missing children. As many of you know, Florida Missing Children's Day was, created by the Florida Legislature in 1999. The ceremony this year to be held at the State Capitol in Tallahassee on September 10, 2007 will once again honor law enforcement officers and civilians statewide who have assisted in missing child cases, and will help to raise statewide awareness to help prevent child abduction and sexual exploitation. I encourage you to- attend this poignant event. It is truly an experience you will not forget and it gives us the opportunity to acknowledge all involved that have been struck by this type of tragedy and suffered such a great loss. I would also like to invite you to join us in this initiative by making a contribution from your trust fund, showing your agency's support for this important statewide, law enforcement - sponsored event. In the past some have contributed $500, however any donation would be advantageous. I believe that one of the most beneficial uses of our law enforcement trust fund monies is support of Florida Missing Children's Day. Please participate in this event by returning your contribution along with the attached pledge form and by attending Florida Missing Children's Day 2007. Governor Charlie Crist, school age children, many law enforcement officers, families of missing children and those families whose children did not survive their abduction, will attend the ceremony on September 10th.
