Res. No. 165-08-12762WHEREAS, the City of South Miami is concerned that additional portions of
67 Avenue (Ludlam Avenue)from Flagler Street to Old Cutler Road may be widened to a
four lane highway; and
WHEREAS, that portion of a 67 Avenue (Ludlam Avenue) from Bird Road
to SW 80th
Street in the City of South Miami is considered as one of South Miami's
premier residential streets lined with large trees and lush landscaping and which also
serves a major bike-way and pedestrian walking area for City residents; and
WHEREAS, that on that portion of 67 Avenue (Ludlam Avenue) from Bird
Road to SW 80th Street in the City of South Miami are located elementary and middle
schools whose students must walk and cross SW 67 Avenue and would be subject to
seriously dangerous traffic conditions if this portion of 67th Avenue became a four lane
highway; and
WHEREAS, 67"' Avenue (Ludlam Road) was surveyed in the early 1900's
and has been for over 100 years a major north-south trail and residential living area for the
County and municipalities located along the roadway; and
WHEREAS, 67th Avenue (Ludlam Road) is deserving of being declared a
State Historic Road pursuant to State Statute 267.062 which designation will help to
preserve the historic landscaping and residential quality of life as well as assure pedestrian
and child safety.

Section I.— The City of South Miami formally requests the Florida State
Legislature pursuant to State Statute 267.062 to designate Ludlam Road (67th Avenue)
from Flagler Street south to Old Cutler Road as a State Historic Road.

Section 2. This resolution shall be effective immediately upon being approved.
