A range of alternatives will be considered leading to a consolidated master plan for future park development. Tom Carlson summarized the preliminary project schedule developed by MC Harry (see attachment). Issues and Interests `l. peak demand for parking far exceeds current capacity (101 spaces on site not including handicap parking spaces) and must be remedied. 2. toilet facilities serving the playing field environment are extremely inadequate, 3. perimeter security is critical to developing a safe play environment. 4. noise control is an interest of the surrounding neighborhood. 5. evening sports events would require field lighting that may be of concern to the surrounding neighbors if 'light spill' is not controlled. 6. pedestrian and bicycle access must be well integrated into the master plan 7. pedestrian paths to be secure due to children safety 8. fields to have capacity to have multiple games occurring at same time (possibly 5 at a time) 'YMCA 1. the indoor activities center proposed by YMCA for this parks part of a larger program to develop family oriented facilities throughout the county, and cited the 52,000 sf Westin Regional Park project as a good example of what they hope to achieve. 2. YMCA representatives distributed copies of their `Initial Schematic Design' document, dated December 2007, and describing their proposed architectural program for a +/- 35,000 sf (minimum build out) facility; related plans and elevations, and a tentative schedule identifying a start of construction in December 2009. 3, the proposed architectural program includes lobby/entry and support space, maintenance/mechanical areas; youth/community areas; wellness venues; aquatic center; and locker rooms. South Miami Park Master Plan Miami Sports and Social Club 10 this club currently has 3i3OO members in Dade ounty 2. their current program calls for SIVIP field use from 10'00 am to 00 pm on Sundays only They Would like to expand their program to include field use fro 00 pm to 110i.00 pm on weekdays, but recognize that this would require field lighting that is hot how available. Miami Premier Soccer Club 1. this club provides soccer and other athletic activities for young women. 2. SMP games are currently scheduled on Saturdays and Sundays. South Florida Sjgorts Leagy 1. the Sports League has approximately 1500 adult and 800 youth member& 2. they currently schedule their SMP fild activities on Saturdays from 9:00 am to 3.00 pma 3. current programs include youth and adult flag football & cheerleading attachment MCHarr y Preliminary Project Schedule South Miami Park Master Plan MEETING MINUTES Date: January 25, 2008 — Friday 11,30 am @ City Hall To: Ajibola Balogun and Cesar Garcia RIM MIN Cesar Garcia City Parks Director cgarcia@cityofsouthmiami.net Julian Perez City Planning Director jperez@cityofsouthmiami.net Sandy Youldlis Planning Consultant syoukilisCo)citvofsouthiiiiami.net Dario Gonzalez PE Building Official Dgonzalez@cityofsouthmiami.net Tom Carlson MC Harry Associates tcarlson@mcharry.com Cesar Garcia delivered a brief overview of the City's Master Plan program for South Miami Park clarifying that MC Harry is the city's parks master planning consultant.
