A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH
MIAMI, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER
TO KILPATRICK TURF & COMMERCIAL EQUIPMENT FOR THE PURCHASE OF A
TURFCO XL METE- R -MATIC TOPDRESSER AND A BANNERMAN BALLPARK FIELD
CONDITIONER IN AN AMOUNT OF $18,715.00 TO BE CHARGED TO PARKS
LANDSCAPING MAINTENANCE OPERATING EQUIPMENT ACCOUNT NUMBER 001 -1750-
519 -6430; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission wishes to purchase a new Turfco XL Mete -R-
Matic Topdresser and a Bannerman Ballpark Field Conditioner.
WHEREAS, the purchase of this equipment is essential for the maintenance of the sports fields
at Palmer Park and South Miami Park,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA THAT:
Section l: The Mayor and City Commission authorizes the City Manager to issue a purchase order
to Kilpatrick Turf & Commercial Equipment for the purchase of a new Turfco XL Mete- R -Matic
Topdresser and a Bannerman Field Conditioner.
Section 2: That the expenditure will be charged to Parks Maintenance Operating Equipment
Account 001 - 1750 -519 -6430 with a current balance of $ 19,998.00 before this request.
Section 3: This resolution shall be effective immediately.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this21 day of April 2009.

Request: Authorizing the City Manager to execute a purchase order with Kilpatrick Turf & Commercial
Equipment for the purchase of a new Turfco XL Mete- R -Matic Topdresser and a new
Bannerman Field Conditioner.
Reason/Need: The purchase of the new sports field equipment is essential for the maintenance of the sports
fields at Palmer Park and South Miami Park. The equipment is used to top dress, level out and
aerate the turf, therefore promoting turf growth and reducing unsafe field conditions. Presently
the department is spending an average of $6,000.00 annually on outside contractor to provide
this service, the purchase of the new equipment will reduce this expenditure by an estimated
$5,000.00 as the work will be performed in house and the equipment will pay for itself in a
short period of time. Purchase of this equipment was approved in the 2008 -2009 Fiscal Years
budget.
Kilpatrick Turf & Commercial Equipment holds the following government contract for Lawn
and Turf Equipment.
1. State of Florida Contract No. 515- 630 -06 -1
Cost: $18,715.00
Funding Sources: Parks Maintenance Operating Equipment Account number 001 - 1750 -519 -6430 with a
current balance of $ 19,998.00.
