A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER TO CODA ROOFING, INC.
FOR THE INSTALLATION OF NEW ROOFS AT THE DANTE FASCELL
PARK PAVILIONS LOCATED AT 8500 SW 57Tn AVENUE IN AN
AMOUNT OF $9,700.00 TO BE CHARGED TO PARKS MAINTENANCE
CONTRACTUAL ACCOUNT NUMBER 001 - 1750 -519 -3450; PROVIDING
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission wishes to install new roofs at the Dante Fascell
Park pavilions; and,
WHEREAS, the Dante Fascell Park houses two pavilions; and,
WHEREAS, the installation of new roofs in these facilities is essential in order to address
problems with water leaks, prevent water damage to the building's structure and to provide a safe and
healthy environment for City residents and Park patrons.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, THAT:
Section 1: The Mayor and City Commission authorizes the City Manager to issue a purchase order
to Coda Roofing, hic. for the installation of new roofs at the Dante Fascell Park pavilions.
Section 2: That the expenditure will be charged to Parks Maintenance Contractual Account 001-
1750 -519 -3450, with a current balance of $ 17,521.00 before this request.
Section 3: This resolution shall be effective immediately

Request: Authorizing the City Manager to execute a purchase order with Coda Roofing, Inc. to
install new roofs at the Dante Fascell Park pavilions.
Reason/Need: The City of South Miami Dante Fascell Park houses a tennis facility and pro shop, hand
ball courts, volley ball court, exercise /walking trail and the busiest playground and party
rental pavilions in the City. The existing roofs on the two pavilions are over 20 years old
and in dire need of replacement. Over the years these roofs have been repaired on
numerous occasions, however due to this year's active and ongoing rainy season the
conditions have further deteriorated. The installation of new roofs in these facilities is
essential in order to reduce the risk of water damage to the existing concrete slab, and to
provide service as well as to provide a safe and healthy environment for the City
residents and Park patrons. The new up- graded and insulated roof will also provide a 10
year warranty. For years Coda Roofing has provided responsible quality service to the
City of South Miami, during the storms of 2004 and 2005 Coda Roofing was
instrumental in securing and repairing wind damaged roofs on City buildings.
Coda Roofing, Inc. was selected as the lowest responsive bidder from the following three
bids received:

3 Tiger & Son Roofing Company $19,500.00
Cost: $9,700.00
Funding Source: Parks Maintenance Contractual Account number 001 - 1750 -519 -3450 with a current
