A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER TO CODA ROOFING, INC.
FOR THE INSTALLATION OF A NEW ROOF AT THE PUBLIC WORKS
MOTOR POOL FACILITY LOCATED AT 4795 SW 75TH AVENUE IN AN
AMOUNT OF $22,900.00 TO BE CHARGED TO MAINTENANCE
CONTRACTUAL ACCOUNT NUMBER 001 - 1760 -519 -3450; PROVIDING
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission wishes to install a new roof system at the Public
Works Motor Pool facility; and,
WHEREAS, the Public Works Motor Pool facility houses the City's vehicular fleet maintenance
repair shop; and,
WHEREAS, the installation of a new roof in this facility is essential in order to address problems
with water leaks, prevent water damage to the building's structure and to provide a safe and healthy
environment for City workers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA THAT:
Section 1: The Mayor and City Commission authorizes the City Manager to issue a purchase order
to Coda Roofing, Inc. for the installation of a new roof system at the Public Works Motor Pool facility.
Section 2: That the expenditure will be charged to Maintenance Contractual Account 001- 1760 -519-
3450, with a current balance of $ 36,300.00 before this request.
Section 3: This resolution shall be effective immediately

Request: Authorizing the City Manager to execute a purchase order with Coda Roofing, Inc. to
install a new roof system at the Public Works Motor Pool facility.
Reason/Need: The City of South Miami Public Works Motor Pool facility houses the City's
maintenance and repair shop for the City's vehicular fleet, the building's existing roof is
over 15 years old and has been repaired on numerous occasions, recent attempts to repair
new water leaks caused by this year's active rainy season have not lasted. The installation
of a new roof in this facility is essential in order to reduce the risk of water damage to the
building and maintenance tools and equipment as well as to provide a safe and healthy
environment for the City workers. The new roof will include an up- graded and insulated
roof system which will also provide a 10 year warranty and improved energy efficiency.
For years Coda Roofing has provided responsible quality roofing service to the City of
South Miami, during the storms of 2004 and 2005 Coda Roofing was instrumental in
securing and repairing wind damaged roofs on City buildings.
Coda Roofing, hie. was selected as the lowest responsive bidder from the following three
bids received:
1. Coda Roofing, Inc. $22,900.00
2. Tiger & Son Roofing Company $31,500.00
3. Andrew Palmer Roofing, Inc. $32,900.00
Cost: $22,900.00
Funding Sources: Maintenance Contractual Account number 001- 1760 -519 -3450 with a current
balance of $ 36,300.00.
