A Resolution relating to federal grants, requesting that the United
States Inspector General be asked to do an audit of all grants
given to the City of South Miami.

WHEREAS, the Commission has some concerns about the outstanding federal grants
particularly those issued by US HUD; and
WHEREAS, the Commission would like to have a fiscal, financial, and performance
audit of all grants; and
WHEREAS, the Commission's concerns extend to the South Miami CAA and the
County CAA and grant money flowing through these agencies; and
WHEREAS, there has been no assumption of risk by Miami-Dade County; and
WHEREAS, an audit that is done after the funds have been expended could result in the
recapture of improperly expended funds over $2 million dollars; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, THAT:
Section 1. The Commission hereby directs the City Manager to request that the
United States Inspector General be asked to do an audit consisting of fiscal, financial, and
performance of all grants given to the City of South Miami.
Section 2. If any section clause, sentence, or phrase of this resolution is for any
reason held invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, the holding shall not
affect the validity of the remaining portions of this resolution.
Section 3. Effective Date. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon
adoption by vote of the City Commission.
