An Ordinance amending the City of South Miami, Florida Code of
Ordinances Section 2-2.1 (A) of Article I of Chapter 2, by changing the time
of the regular meetings of the City Commission from 7:30 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
WHEREAS, the Commission of South Miami wishes to retain more flexibility in
detennining the time and duration of any break in regularly scheduled Commission
meetings; and
WHEREAS, the Commission wishes meetings to proceed as expeditious and efficiently
as possible by eliminating contradicting or confusing meeting times;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That Subsection (A) of Section 2-2.1 of Article I of Chapter 2 of the code
or Ordinances of the City of South Miami, Florida, be, and the same is hereby amended to read
as follows:
"(A) REGULAR MEETING. The city commission shall hold regular meetings at ~
}l;M 7:00 P.M. on the first and third Tuesdays of each month with the exception of the
months of June and July. The City Commission shall hold regular meetings at 7:30 P.M.
7:00 P.M. on the first and second Tuesdays of June and the last two Tuesdays of July.
When the day set for any regular meeting falls on a day designated by law as a legal,
public national or religious holiday, such meeting shall be held on a date detennined in
advance by a majority of the Commission the next succeeding day follo,tVing such
holiday. Regular meetings may be otherwise postponed cancelled or reset onl:y--by
resolution adopted at a regular meeting by a majority of the entire membership of the
commission. All regular meetings shall be held in the Commission Chambers located in
the City Hall."
Section 2. If any section, clause, sentence, or phrase of this ordinance i.s for any
reason held invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, the holding shall not
affect the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance.
Section3. This ordinance shall be included in the Code of Ordinances.
Section 4. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this
ordinance are repealed.
Section 5. This ordinance shall become effective upon enactment.
