A Resolution creating the City Manager Selection Committee to evaluate resumes,
interview candidates and make recommendations to the City Commission for the selection
of a City Manager.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Article II section 8 of the charter, as amended on February 9, 2010, when a
board or committee is comprised oftive (5) members, each City Commissioner shall appoint one person to serve
as a representative on the board or committee; and,
WHEREAS, the Commission desires to appoint a City Manager Selection Committee, consisting of
five members, to work with the Human Resources Manager and staff to evaluate candidates and to make
recommendations to the City Commission for the hiring of a City Manager.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Commission hereby creates the temporary City Manager Selection Committee. The
committee shall consist of five members for a term not to exceed from the date of this resolution.
The committee shall work with the Human Resources Manager and staff to evaluate resumes, interview
candidates and make recommendations to the City Commission for the selection of a manager.
Section 2. The Committee members shall serve until a recommendation is accepted by the
Commission and a City Manager is selected and accepts the terms and conditions of the appointment or until
their term have expired. The committee members shall serve without compensation and report its findings
within __ days following ______________ _
Section 3. The committee shall review resumes, interview potential candidates, and, if available, make
at least three recommendations to the City Commission.
Section 4. Severability. If any section clause, sentence, or phrase of this resolution is for any reason
held invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, the holding shall not affect the validity of
the remaining portions of this resolution.
Section 5. Effective Date. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption by vote
of the City Commission.
