A Resolution appointing Carlos Martell to serve on the Parks and
Recreation Board for a two-year term ending December 3,2014.
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Commission recognize the important contributions made by
those who serve on the various city boards and committees, and wish to appoint a full complement
to each of the active boards and committees; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to appoint Carlos Martell to serve for a two-
year term on the Parks and Recreation Board. Appointment shall expire December 3,2014 or until
a successor is duly appointed and qualified; and
WHEREAS, as per Sec. 2-22 "Term Limits" of the City of South Miami Code of
Ordinances, an appointee may not be re-appointed to the same commission, board or committee
after completion of two (2) consecutive terms unless at least one year has elapsed between the
term limited position and the effective date of commencement of the proposed appointment for a
new term, commencing with appointments made after January 1,2009; and
WHEREAS, this appointment will constitute Mr. Martell's first two-year term.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, THAT:
Section 1. The City Commission hereby appoints Carlos Martell to the Parks and
Recreation Board.
Section 2. The expiration date of this appointment shall be December 3, 2014 or
until a successor is duly appointed and qualified.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
