Background: The City is undergoing interior remodeling of the Sylva Martin building, which will be used to house several of the City's departments. As part of the renovation, electrical work is needed to accommodate the work stations and equipment for each department. Expense: Account: The City solicited quotes from qualified vendors for proposals to perform the electrical work. The proposals received are shown below: Electrical Masters, Inc., Canseco Electrical Contractors, Inc., Langer Electric, submitted proposals $11,500 $13,810 $19,199 Upon further review of proposals it was determined that Electric Masters, Inc. was the lowest, most responsive and responsible bidder for the project for amount not to exceed $11,500. Due to the nature of the work, there may be unknown factors that may arise. To account for this, a 15% contingency of $1,725 over the proposal amount of $11,500 is requested, for a total amount not to exceed $13,225. The total amount for the contract, including the contingency amount is not to exceed $13,225. An Amount not to exceed $13,225. The expenditure is charged to Capital Improvement Program Account Number 301-1790-519- 6450 with an account balance of $145,000 before this request was made. WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission wish to renovate the interior Sylva Martin building; and WHEREAS, the City solicited and received quotes from contractors for the electrical work to be performed inside the Sylva Martin building; Pursuant to an evaluative process, it was determined that Electrical Masters, Inc., with a proposal in the amount of $11 ,500, is comprehensive and cost effective in its design approach. Canseco Electrical Contractors, Inc., Langer Electric, submitted proposals of $13,810 and $19,199 respectively; and WHEREAS, the work shall consist of providing electrical, telephone, data and lighting to the proposed work stations in the building; and WHEREAS, the City desires to provide a 15% contingency over the proposal amount of $11 ,500 for unknown factors that may arise during the work for an amount not to exceed $1,725. The total amount for the contract including the contingency amount is not to exceed $13,225: and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Commission to approve the cost of electrical work to an amount not to exceed $13,225; WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission desires to authorize the City Manager to expend with Electrical Masters, Inc for the electrical work within the Sylva Martin building. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1: The City Manager is hereby authorized to expend with Electrical Masters, Inc. for the electrical work inside the Sylva Martin building for an amount not to exceed $13,225, including the contingency amount.
