CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI
OFFICE OF THE CITY MANAGER
INTER-OFFICE MEMORANDUM
The Honorable Mayor & Members of t~. ~ /J Ci Commission
Hector Mirabile, PhD, City Manager It: . r
December 23, 20 II Agenda Item No.:----",J,,--
2001
A Resolution of the Mayor and City Commission of the City of South Miami,
Florida, declaring that the attached list of personal property is "surplus" and
authorizing the City Manager to sell the "surplus" items at auction; and
providing an effective date.
Personal Property is defined as temporary or movable property. Any personal
property that is classified obsolete, or no longer economical or efficient to
keep, or that serves no useful function for any activity or in any location within
the City, needs to be declared as "surplus" by the City Commission per
Section 2-4.7 of the Code of Ordinances.
Section 2-4.7 titled: "Surplus city-owned property" of the City of South Miami
Code of Ordinances states that all personal property owned by the City shall
not be sold unless and until it is declared to be surplus property by resolution
of the city commission. The City Manager is recommending that the attached
list of personal property items classified as "surplus" that serves no useful
function for any activity or in any location within the City and should be sold
to the highest bidder by way of a City auction.
A listing of surplus pagers are enclosed. Three quotes were secured for the
pagers and the awarded vendor is Mobile Source Corp. providing the City a
total of $1,498. It was determined selling the pagers would be more cost
effective for the City rather than involving the surplus contractor.

Hi John,
Page 1 of4
Thank you for your patience, I wanted to be careful and sure that I was quoting higher than anyone
else, I went to 4 competitors sites after I quoted, and rest assured, I was higher on everything, The
phones where I quoted ,25 and .50, they pay $0,
The total I have is $1498 with the chargers I can send you the breakdown if you would like,
Additionally, you need to be careful with these companies: when they get the phones after they quote
you a high price, they come up with reasons to pay less,
I can either come down to inspect phones or send a courier to pick them up, I take up to 2 weeks to pay
as we need to test and clear them all out of all remaining data,
I have many references; I wish people would actually call them! For example:
Miami Beach Housing Authority
Miami Childrens Hospital
Miami VA Healthcare System
Radio One/Tom Vannah
Everyone at AT&T and Sprint and Verizon know me as well.
Hope to hear from you soon,
Edward Kissel
