An Ordinance amending Chapter 2 -Administration, adding Sec. 4-2.2-
"State ofthe City Address".

Whereas, the City of South Miami (Athe City@) like many others, has the tradition of the
mayor delivering an annual State of the City Address; and

Whereas, this address has been delivered in January, shortly before elections in alternate
years; and

Whereas, the City Commission desires this address to objectively reflect the state of the
City's finances, processes, and people, rather than being influenced by ongoing political
campaigns within the City; and

Whereas, the City Commission wishes to make this address equally accessible to all
citizens of South Miami; and

Whereas, the Miami-Dade Commission on Ethics and Public Trust has specifically
recommended that the City not charge individuals for admission to South Miami's State of the
City Address as it did in past years.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA:
