REMINDER (Early Voting): 2001 Please bear in mind that any decision for conducting Early Voting must be incorporated into this ordinance for purposes of informing the Elections Department in a timely fashion. The 2012 General Election will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 31 2012. On that date, a mayor will be elected to serve a term of two (2) years, and two (2) 32 Commissioners, one from Group II and one from Group III, will be elected to serve a 33 term of four (4) years. 34 Section 2. The qualifying period for this election shall open Monday, January 35 9, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. and close Friday, January 13, 2012, precisely at 5:00 p.m. 36 Candidates shall qualify at the office of the City Clerk, 6130 Sunset Drive, South Miami, 37 Florida. 38 39 Section 3. Voting shall be conducted at City Hall in the City Commission 40 Chamber, 6130 Sunset Drive, South Miami, Florida. The sample ballot for the 2012 general election is annexed to this ordinance. Section 5. The election books shall close Monday, January 16,2012. Section 6. The City Clerk shall publish notice of such general election once a week for four consecutive weeks next preceding the general election in a newspaper of general circulation in South Miami. The notice shall contain the date, time, and place of the general election and identifY the Commission Groups. Section 7. If any section, clause, sentence, or phrase of this ordinance is for any reason held invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, the holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance. Section 8. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions ofthis ordinance are repealed. Section 9. This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon ennactment.
