Subject: A Resolution authorizing the City Manager to accept a donation from South Miami
amount of $14,568.00 for six (6) AED Defibrillators
City of South Miami has various city buildings which house different
departments /divisions within our city government; i.e. Parks & Recreation, Public
Works Department, Sylva Martin Building, South Miami Police Department and City
Hall. Any given day, a large volume of visitors walk through our city buildings, be it
Background: internal or external customers, residents and or staff. It is imperative that we are
prepared and ready to act in case a medical emergency arises, minutes count and a
life may be saved if we are ready to act. Accepting this generous donation from
South Miami Hospital will place an AED Defibrillator on site at all of our buildings.
As part of their donation, South Miami Hospital is willing to have in- service training
on how to use this life saving device for staff.

I RESOLUTION NO.
2 A Resolution authorizing the City Manager to accept a donation from South Miami
3 Hospital in the amount of $ 14,568.00 for six (6) AED Defibrillators.
4 WHEREAS, South Miami Hospital has offered to donate six AED Defibrillators having
5 a value of $14,568.00; and
6 WHEREAS, City of South Miami has various city buildings which house different
7 departments /divisions within our city government; i.e. Parks & Recreatiotl, Public Works
8 Department, Sylva Martin Building, South Miami Police Department and City Hall. Any given
9 day, a large volume of visitors walk through our city buildings, be it internal or external
10 customers, residents and or staff; and
11 WHEREAS, it is imperative that we are prepared and ready to act in case a medical

13 accepts this generous donation from South Miami Hospital all of City's buildings will have an

16 NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
17 COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA THAT;
18 Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to accept a donation of six (6) AED
19 Defibrillators from South Miami Hospital which have a value of $14,568.00.
20 Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
