Subject: A Resolution authorizing the City Manager to approve a purchase in the amount of
$8,233 for the installation of an irrigation system at Dison Park through Tropical
Wells and Sprinkler Inc. funded through Safe Neighborhood Parks grant (SNP
grant) account # 106 - 3000 -572 -3450.
Background: The City of South Miami has entered into an agreement with Safe Neighborhood
Parks also known as (SNP grant), which will pay for the installation of an
irrigation system at Dison Park.
The Parks and Recreation Department recommends that an entire irrigation system
be installed at Dison Park to provide water year round on this property. The
installation of an irrigation system fits the scope of services under landscaping as
established in the grant.
Three bids have been compiled with Tropical Wells and Sprinkler Inc., with the
lowest cost in the amount of $8,233. The other companies were Dedicated
Property Services for $13,750.00 and Affordable Irrigation, Inc., in the amount of
$13,800.00. All permits through South Florida Water Management & DERM and
the City are the responsibility of the contractor.
Expense: $8,233.00
Fund & Account: SNP Grant, account 106 - 3000 -572 -3450, with a current balance of $50,254.55.

WHEREAS, the City has entered into an agreement with Safe Neighborhood Parks also
known as SNP Grant; and,
WHEREAS, a complete irrigation system is deemed essential at Dison Park; and,
WHEREAS, this irrigation system fits into the scope of service under the landscaping
category as established in the grant; and,
WHEREAS, all permits through South Florida Water Management DERM, and the City are
the responsibility of the contractor; and,
WHEREAS, other compatible quotes have been acquired and Tropical Wells and Sprinkler
Inc., is the lowest bidder in the amount of $8,233, compared to Dedicated Property Service, $13,750,
and Affordable Irrigation, $13,800.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. This resolution authorizes the City Manager to approve the purchase of an irrigation system
in the amount of $8,233, through Tropical Wells and Sprinkler Inc.
Section 2. That payment in the amount of $8,233 is charged to SNP Grant, account 106- 3000 -572-
3450, with the current balance of $50,254.55.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.

We, propose to install a system consisting of 35Rainbird 5000 -4 Rotary heads to cover all of the
landscaped areas.
A Multi- Station Controller, 3 Toro electric solenoid valves and a rain sensor would be installed
so that the system will be automatic in operation.
A 3" H.P. pump and a2" well would be installed to supply the system.
Price includes labor, materials and permit for a complete installation.
Price includes our electrician to install the Meter cam, the small panel and connect the pump &
timer.
Also the permits for S.F.W.M., Derm and Building & zoning is included
