*ackground: It is recommended that the Mayor and Commission adopt the
attached resolution consenting and confirming Christopher Brimo
as the Planning and Zoning Director for the City of South Miami.
Article III, Section 5 and Article VI, Section 7 of the City of South
Miami City Charter require the City Commissions consent for the
appointment of Department Directors.
The appointment of Mr. Christopher Brimo is being presented t*
the Mayor and Commission for consent.
Attachments:
Mr. Brimo is well - qualified for the demands and responsibilities of
the position. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics and a
Master of Science in Urban and Regional Planning from Florida
State University. He is a certified planner and active member of
the American Institute of Certified Planners ( "AICP "). He has
twenty years of experience as a planner and has specialized in
planning and land use for local governments.
Mr. Brimo is currently an Urban — Transportation Planning
Consultant in Tampa, Florida. His resume and credentials are
attached for your review.

WHEREAS, the City Manager is recommending Christopher Brimo, AICP as the
Director of Planning and Zoning; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Article III, Section 5 and Article VI, Section 7 of the City
of South Miami City Charter the City Manager has the power to appoint Directors of the
City Departments with the consent and confonnance of the Mayor and the City
Commission; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission wish to consent to and confirm the
appointment of Christopher Brimo as the Planning and Zoning Director for the City of
South Miami.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The Mayor and City Commission hereby consent and confirm the
appointment of Christopher Brimo as the Planning and Zoning Director for the City of
South Miami.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.

I have been a professional Urban/Transportation Planner in the Tampa Bay region for the past nineteen
years, and after contributing to the accomplishments of three different organizations, I am seeking new
challenges with the City of South Miami.
The scopes of responsibilities in my career has been diverse and have included public administration,
comprehensive land use planning and analysis, zoning and plan reviews, code development and
enforcement, transportation and mobility planning, strategic planning, internal administration and
budgeting. Concurrent executive management responsibilities involved 10- months as interim City
Manager and Community Development Director while working for the City of St. Pete Beach.
I have exceptional management, planning and leadership abilities, as well as exemplary customer
service performance, and I have acted as liaison on various local, regional and state boards and
committees. I have been commended many times for outstanding performance as both a team player and
individual contributor.
As a Florida resident growing up in Miami, I have dealt with the many of the challenges facing local
