The City of South Miami has been awarded a grant from the Children's Trust. One
of the provisions in the grant allows the City to provide transportation of After
School House Program participants from their area schools to the Gibson - Bethel
Community Center; where the program is held. The After School House Program
offers children a variety of recreational and educational activities which includes
an excellent tutoring program. Therefore, allowing the City Manager to accept the
services of Del Aguila Bus Service, Inc., enables a broader group of children in
the South Miami area to take advantage of the program.

WHEREAS, the City of South Miami was awarded a grant from the Children's Trust
which allows the City to provide transportation to participants from area schools to the Gibson -
Bethel Community Center.; and,
WHEREAS, Del Aguila Bus Service, Inc. is a Miami -Dade County Public Schools
approved vendor currently providing bus transportation services in the school system; and,
WHEREAS, this company will provide daily after school transportation from area
schools for participants of the Afterschool House Program in an amount of $18,876 to be charged
to account 106- 3500 -564 -3450; and
WHEREAS, Del Aguila Bus Service, Inc. was the lowest quote provided among three
qualified services; A I A Transportation, Inc. and Fanmar Corporation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the City Manager is authorized to expend $18,876 for Del Aguila Bus
Service, Inc., for the provision of daily transportation of After School House participants
from area schools to the Gibson - Bethel Community Center, where the program is held, in
an amount of $18,876 to be charged to the Children's Trust Grant account 106- 3500 -564-
3450.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon approval.

AIA Transportation, Inc. operates under the laws and guidelines of the Florida Department of Education,
School Board of Broward and Miami -Dade Counties.
COMPANY PROFILE
Our company was incorporated in the State of Florida in April 1996, and, has been operating routes and
field trips within Miami -Dade and Broward Counties for the past fourteen years. We are approved by both
Miami -Dade and Broward School Boards. We operate approximately 50 daily routes and 800 field trips a
month. We are very familiar with field trip sites within Miami -Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties.
DISPATCH OFFICES:
With offices in both Miami -Dade and Broward Counties we are prepared to handle your transportation
needs. Our dispatchers are in constant contact with our drivers through two -way radios and all buses are
equipped with GPS Vehicle Tracking for up to the minute knowledge of each bus's location. They have
stand -by drivers and spare buses at their disposal for any emergencies. A dispatcher will be on duty any
time you hire a bus from our company for customer support. Our offices are open from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm
Monday through Friday; however a dispatcher is on duty for any after -hours field trip and may be reached
through our office numbers.
We encourage you to take tour of our facility so that you can see firsthand how we are prepared to handle
your transportation needs.
Our drivers and buses receive certification by meeting and adhering to the following requirements:
CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK:
Drivers are fingerprinted at Broward County Public Schools by the Florida Department of Law
Enforcement and the FBI, with a Level II screening to adhere to the Jessica Lunsford Act. All drivers
receive a Vendor ID Badge when they have been cleared.
STATE OF FLORIDA MVR EVALUATION CRITERIA AND FREQUENCY:
Each driver's DHSMV complete record is examined prior to initial certification. Points will be assigned
for each entry on DHSMV driver record. As a general rule, individuals will not usually be approved to
drive a school bus if they have:
A. More than three points during the past year.
B. More than six points during the past three years.
C. More than nine points during the past five years.
D. More than twenty -five points total on the entire driving record.
E. Individuals that have ever been cited for driving while impaired due to unlawful use of
alcohol or drugs.
A subsequent record check is made every September, January and July
PHYSICAL AND DRUG TEST FREQUENCY:
Each driver must pass an annual physical examination using an ESE 479 form, and an annual drug test.
Both exams are completed by Miami -Dade School Board approved doctor and facility.
DRIVERS:
All drivers are certified by Broward County Public Schools. They receive certification by meeting and
completing the following requirements:
A. Have five years of licensed driving experience.
B. Hold a valid commercial driver's license (class A or B) with a passenger and school
bus endorsement.
C. Successfully complete forty hours of pre - service training.
D. Submit a set of fingerprints for background investigation.
E. Comply with pre - employment, annual, post accident, reasonable suspicion and
random drug tests.
F. Annual physical examination.
G. Maintain a clean and safe driving record.
CLASSROOM TRAINING OF DRIVERS:
Prior to initial certification, each driver successfully completes the State of Florida Basic School Bus
Driver Training Course. Drivers receive forty hours of training, at least twenty hours of classroom
instruction and eight hours of on the road training.
TESTING — ROAD AND /OR WRITTEN:
Each driver receives a written exam and road test in order to complete the State of Florida Basic School
Bus Driver Training Course.
COMMERCIAL DRIVER LICENSE, DRUG AND ALCOHOL TESTING:
AIA Transportation, Inc. adheres to the Omnibus Transportation Employee testing Act per Federal
Regulations. 49 CFR Parts 40 and 382. Drug and/or alcohol testing procedures are performed with regard
to:
• Pre - Employment Drug Testing
• Random Drug/Alcohol Testing
• Return to Duty Drug Testing
• Annual Drug Testing
• Post Accident Drug/Alcohol Testing
• Follow -up Drug/Alcohol Testing
• Reasonable Suspicion Drug/Alcohol Testing
AIA Transportation, Inc. is a Drug Free Workplace under contract with American Drug Free Workplace,
LLC, which manages our drug program.
SCHEDULED SAFETY MEETINGS:
Since our company consists of approximately 66 employees, safety meetings occur very frequently. There
is daily contact between drivers and supervisory staff.
ON ROAD SAFETY CHECKS:
Safety checks are done periodically to insure that all students are safely transported. This includes
checking railroad crossing procedures, loading /unloading students, and proper student management and
driver evaluations.
BUS INSPECTION CRITERIA:
A monthly safety inspection is performed on each bus by our maintenance department and by Broward
County Public School Inspector. The inspection is done in accordance with Florida Statutes Chapter
1006.21 and the Rules of the State Board of Education Chapter 6A- 3.017.
PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE:
By performing this preventive maintenance service, we have minimized the number of road calls
dramatically.
BUS REQUIREMENTS:
We have a fleet of over 50 buses with rated seating capacity of 65 passengers. All of our buses are post
1978 models and meet all Federal Guidelines, Florida Statutes Chapter 1006.25 and Florida State Board of
Education Administrative Rules 6A -3.
AUTOMOBILE LIABILITY INSURANCE:
All buses are insured at $1,000,000.00 combined single limit.
GENERAL LIABILITY INSURANCE:
We carry Commercial General Liability in the amount of $1,000,000.00.
WORKERS COMPENSATION INSURANCE:
We carry Workers Compensation Insurance in the amount of $1,000,000.00 per accident.
Your institution will be listed as Additional Insured and Certificate Holder on all of our insurance policies.
COST OF SERVICES PER BUS:
$45.00 per hour / minimum 4 hours.
Price valid for all trips within Miami -Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties.
