WHEREAS, the Florida Alliance for Renewable Energy (FARE) is a coalition of concerned individuals, businesses, manufacturers, communities, agricultural stakeholders, associations, policy makers, non - profits, and renewable energy producers; and, WHEREAS, FARE is dedicated to creating jobs and economic benefit to the citizens of Florida by the use of renewable energy through effective public policy. WHEREAS, FARE is dedicated to educating and engaging Floridians on Production Based Incentives (PBI); and, WHEREAS, PBI's have proven to be the most widespread and effective legislation for the promotion of renewable energy; and WHEREAS, the 2011 FARE Tour will be conducted through ten cities across the state, highlighting local job creation and economic growth through renewable energy and energy efficiency measures; and WHEREAS, at the City Commission meeting of January 18, 2011, Mr. Mike Antheil, Executive Director of the Florida Alliance for Renewable Energy addressed the Commission seeking a partnership with the City of South Miami for the Jour Tour when it stops in Miami on February 11, 2011; and WHEREAS, Mr. Antheil is also seeking permission to use the City's logo in promotion of the FARE Tour. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the City Commission wish to declare its support for the Florida Renewable Energy Tour (FARE), and hereby grant permission to FARE for the use of our City's logo in promotion of the tour. The tour will be your very best opportunity to team about renewable energy policy, interact with your elected officials and be pan of the sweeping gressroots movement that volt bring Florida in to the renewable energy future. Tour stops will include a city near you, make sum to attend one of these events! The tour will feature discussion of renewable energy legislation to be introduced In the 2011 Legislative Session. The tour is scheduled for the last three weeks In Febmary, leading in to the beginning of legislative session in March. The tour will also feature industry & policy experts and local elected officials. Prior to each event the tour will feature visits to local solar and renewable energy Installations. Each individual event will be in Town Hall format with a discussion on job creation and local economic growth through renewable energy development, and a question and answers session from Industry experts and State legislators.
