4 A Resolution of the Mayor and City Commission of the City of South
5 Miami, Florida, relating to the Pension Ad Hoc Committee; providing
6 for the extension of membership; and providing an effective date.

9 WHEREAS, pursuant to Article II section 8 of the charter, the Mayor with the
10 advice and consent of the Commission is empowered to establish such boards and
11 agencies as it deems advisable; and,
12
13 WHEREAS, the City Commission created a Pension Ad Hoc Committee by
14 Resolution No. 180 -09- 12989, dated October 20, 2009, consisting of five members, for a
15 period of six months, in order to provide recommendations to the Commission with
16 alternatives to the City's pension system; and
17
18 WHEREAS, the Committee was granted a six -month extension by Resolution
19 No. 90 -10 -13124 adopted May 4, 2010 to allow the Committee more time to complete its
20 report; and
21
22 WHEREAS, there is a need for extending the membership of the Committee for
23 another six months or until a recommendation is accepted by the Commission, whichever
24 date is sooner.

26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE
27 CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS
28 FOLLOWS:

30 Section 1. The City Commission wishes to extend the membership of the
31 Pension Ad Hoc Committee for another six months, ending April 19, 2010, or until a
32 recommendation is accepted by the Commission, whichever date is sooner. The
33 committee members shall serve without compensation; provided, however; the City will
34 reimburse expenses incurred.

36 Section 2. Meetings of the Pension Ad Hoc Committee shall be subject
37 to the Florida Sunshine laws, including the public meeting law and the public
38 records law. All meetings of the committee shall be advertised-in a conspicuous
39 place at City Hall and open to the public.

41 Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon approval
