Subject: A Resolution of the Mayor and City Commission of the
City of South Miami, Florida, authorizing the Acting City Manager to
terminate the take home vehicle program for non - police staff; and
providing for an effective date.
Background: The City of South Miami has a take home vehicle program for designated non -
police staff, this includes the City Manager and three in Public Works Department.
In an effort to collectively save for the new Fiscal Year 2011 it is recommended that the take home
vehicle program for non- police staff be terminated, it is also recommended that a minimum bid
value for these vehicles be established and that automobiles be sold at auction.
It is recommended that we replace the take home vehicle program with a $ 100 monthly auto
allowance to provide for official duty personal use.

RESOLUTION NO.:
A Resolution of the Mayor and City Commission of the City of South Miami,
Florida, authorizing the Acting City Manager to terminate the take home
vehicle program for non - police staff; and providing for an effective date.
Whereas, the City of South Miami has a take home vehicle program for non - police staff which consist of
the following City Manager and three vehicles in the Public Works Department; and
Whereas, the City of South Miami wishes to terminate the take home vehicle program for non - police staff;
and
Whereas, the City of South Miami will replace this program with a $ 100 auto allowance to provide for
official duty personal vehicle used; and
Whereas, the City of South Miami will establish a minimum bid value for these vehicles and auction these
vehicles.
Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Mayor and City Commission of the City of South Miami,
Florida that:
Section 1: The City of South Miami will terminate the take home vehicle program for non - police staff
including the City Manager's vehicle and three vehicles in the Public Works Department. As the City of South
Miami is looking to cut cost from their operating budget, terminating the take home vehicle program for non - police
staff will represent a savings to the city.
Section 2: The City of South Miami will replace this program with a $ 100 monthly auto allowance to provide
for official duty to home.
Section 3: This resolution shall be effective immediately.
