8 in special session on Tuesday, May 11, 2010, beginning at 9:13
9 p.m., in the City Commission Chambers, 6130 Sunset Drive.

35 search for an individual to fill the City Manager
36 position; Authorizing the Mayor to execute a contract
37 with The Mercer Group, Inc.; and providing an effective

Based on each firm's presentation, the Commission discussed
the different qualifications and experience of each.
Commissioner Palmer expressed dissatisfaction with the
method being used by the majority of the Commission for selecting
the firm. She said that the way it was done it was unfair to all
of the firms. She favored the way that it has always been done
which is considered a very fair process, she said, and that is by
rating them after the interviews, and then passing the tally
sheets to the City Attorney for the announcement of the winner.
Mayor Stoddard said that they chose to do this in the open
for the benefit of everybody so that there would be no secret
about what they thought or the reason for their choice.
At the end of the discussion, Deputy City Attorney Goldstein
recommended for each Commissioner to announce their choices:

Commissioner Beasley: First choice: The Mercer Group
Second choice: Now Hiring You
Commissioner Palmer: First choice: Now Hiring You
Second choice: Colin Baenziger

Vice Mayor Newman: First choice: The Mercer Group

Moved by Mayor Stoddard to amend the resolution by adding
the name of The Mercer Group. Seconded by Vice Mayor Newman, the
motion to approve this item as amended passed by a 4 -1 vote:
