5I resolution NO. 2 3 4 A resolution of the Mayor and City Commission of the City of South 5 Miami, Florida, relating to the Pension Ad Hoc Committee; providing 6 for the extension of membership; and providing an effective date. 7 8 9 WHEREAS, pursuant to Article II section 8 of the charter, the Mayor with the 10 advice and consent of the Commission is empowered to establish such boards and 11 agencies as it deems advisable; and, 12 13 WHEREAS, the City Commission created a Pension Ad Hoc Committee by 14 Resolution No. 180 -09- 12989, dated October 20, 2009, consisting of five members, for a 15 period of six months, in order to provide recommendations to the Commission with 16 alternatives to the City's pension system; and 17 18 WHEREAS, the six -month term is about to elapse and the Committee needs 19 more time to complete its report; and 20 21 WHEREAS, there is a need for extending the membership of the Committee for 22 another six months; and 23 24 WIIEREAS, the following members were originally appointed to serve on the 25 Committee: Javier Banos, Toni Alarn, Scharmaine Taylor, Bradley Cassel and Lori 26 Yanoshik;and 27 28 29 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE 30 CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS 31 FOLLOWS: 32 Section 1. The City Commission wishes to extend the membership of the 33 Pension Ad Hoe Committee for another six months, ending October 19, 2010, or until a 34 recommendation is accepted by the Commission, whichever date is sooner. The 35 committee members shall serve without compensation; provided, however, the City will 36 reimburse expenses incurred. 37 38 Section 2. Meetings of the Pension Ad Hoc Committee shall be subject 39 to the Florida Sunshine laws, including the public meeting law and the public 40 records law. All meetings of the committee shall be advertised in a conspicuous 41 place at City Hall and open to the public. 42 43 Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon approval. WHEREAS, pursuant to Article H section 8 of the charter, the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Commission is empowered to establish such boards and agencies as it deems advisable; and, WHEREAS, the Commission desires to appoint a Pension Ad Hoc Committee, consisting of five members in order to provide recommendations to the Commission with alternatives to the City's pension system. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The City Commission hereby creates the Pension Ad Hoc Committee. The committee shall consist of five members. The committee shall make recommendations to the Commission regarding alternatives to the City's pension system. Section 2. The Commission appoints the following to serve on the committee: Mayor Feliu: Javier Bano "s Vice Mayor Beasley: Toni Alam Commissioner Palmer: Seharmaine Taylor Commissioner Newman: Brad Cassel Commissioner Sellars: Lori Yanoshik Section 3. The committee members shall serve for a six month term, or until a recommendation is accepted by the Commission, whichever date is sooner.
