A Resolution of the Mayor and City Commission of the City of South Miami, Florida, relating to the procedure for transmitting resolutions urging the State or Federal legislators to act on behalf of the City; providing an effective date. WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission recognize the importance of some of the decisions made by the State and/or Federal legislature which may impact our City; and, WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission wish to establish a procedure to ascertain that any resolution urging the legislature on any particular matter will reach the intended destination within seven (7) calendar days or less; and, WHEREAS, urgings shall be forwarded to the appropriate entities within one week of enactment and that the Acting City Manager, City Attorney and City Clerk collaborate to determine the best manner to meet that goal and to determine who should receive the urging. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA; that Section 1. The above whereas clauses are incorporated by reference into the body of this resolution. Section 2. The Mayor and City Commission direct the Acting City Manager, City Attorney and City Clerk to ensure that the matter is received by the appropriate entities within seven (7) calendar days or less. Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon approval. PASSED AND ADOPTED this CITY CLERK day of March, 2010.
