RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA CONDEMNING THOSE WHO
DENY THAT THE HOLOCAUST EVER OCCURRED; PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, The Mayor and Commission recognize the importance of the World never
forgetting the memory of the 6 Million Jews, 20 Million Russians, 10 Million Christians, and
1,900 Catholic Priests who perished in the Holocaust and
WHEREAS, Countries like Iran claim the Holocaust never happened which is
deplorable; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to establish as the Public Policy of the City of
South Miami that the Holocaust be always remembered and never be removed from our libraries
and school curriculums simply because the truth of history offends a small sector of the
population who claim it never happened.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, THAT:
Section 1. The City Commission declares it to be the policy of the City of South
Miami that the History of the Holocaust never be removed from our libraries or school
curriculums and to vigorously oppose all efforts that claim the Holocaust never occurred..
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon approval.
PASSED AND ADOPTED THIS DAY OF 2010.
