Res No 107-14-14201RESOLUTION NO.107-14-1 4201 A Resolution re-appointing Pam Lahiff to serve on the Historic Preservation Board for a two-year term ending May 19,2016. WHEREAS,the Mayor and Commission recognize the important contributions made by thosewhoserveonthe various Cityboardsand committees andwishto appoint afull complement to each of the active boards and committees;and WHEREAS,theCity Commission desiresto re-appoint Pam Lahiff toserveforatwo- yeartermontheHistoricPreservationBoard.Thisappointment(s)shallexpireMay 19,2016 or untilremovedoruntilasuccessorisdulyappointedandqualified. WHEREAS,commencingwithappointmentsmadeafterJanuary 1,2009,Sec.2-22 "Term Limits"ofthe Code of Ordinances provides that,appointees are limited to two (2) consecutivetwo-yearterms of membershiponaspecificcommission,board,orcommittee.After serving a maximum of two (2)consecutive year terms,an appointee shall notbe reappointed to the same commission,board or committee unless at least one year has elapsed between the term limited position andthe effective date of commencement ofthe proposed appointment fora new term;and WHEREAS,Sec.2-22 "Term Limits"of the Code of Ordinances,as amended by Ordinance No.06-14-2184,dated April 15,2014,provides that the appointer,or his or her successor in office,may extend the term limits ofhisorher appointment withthe advice and consent of amajority of theCityCommission;and WHEREAS,pursuant to Sec.2-22 "Term Limits"ofthe Code of Ordinances,this will be Ms.Lahiffs third two-year term ofthe two (2)consecutive year terms. WHEREAS,Ms.Lahiffwas previously appointed andshewillhaveservedasaboard member ofthe Historic Preservation Board for over four continuous years when her current appointment expires;and WHEREAS,Mayor and Commission desires to re-appoint Ms.Lahiffto serve onthe Historic Preservation Board for an additional two-year term exceeding the City's term limit ordinance as an allowable exception.Her appointment for this new term will expire May 19, 2016,or unless removed or until a successor is duly appointed and qualified. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSIONOFTHE CITY OFSOUTHMIAMI,FLORIDA,THAT: Section1.TheCity Commission hereby appoints PamLahiffto serve onthe Historic Preservation Board for an additional two-year term asan exception to the term limits set forth in Section2-22 of the City's Code of Ordinances.
