A Resolution of the City of South Miami, Florida, naming a portion of S.W.
78th Street, from 62 "d Avenue to where it ends just after 63rd Avenue, as
"South Miami Elks Dodge Drive ".
WHEREAS, the South Miami Elks Lodge ( #1676) has been a great neighbor in South
Miami for more than 57 years; and
WHEREAS, the South Miami Elks Lodge has made its facilities available to the City for
numerous events and is an asset to the community; and
WHEREAS, the City of South Miami wishes to show its appreciation for the South
Miami Elks Lodge by naming a portion of S.W. 78th Street, from 62" Avenue to where it ends
just after 63rd Avenue, as "South Miami Elks L-e� Drive "; and
WHEREAS, the City of South Miami Code of Ordinances Section 17 -10.1 provides that:
(b) The attachment of any organizational name or likeness to any piece of public
property within the city shall not be entertained unless a contribution in money
and /or other goods and considerations totaling at least ten (10) percent of the
value of that property has been made to the city.
(c) These requirements may be waived by a four -fifths (4/5) vote of the city
commission.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The Mayor and City Commission of the City of South Miami, Florida hereby
renames that portion of S.W. 78th Street, from 62nd Avenue to where it ends just after 63rd
Avenue, as "South Miami Elks Lodge Drive ".
Section 2. Severability. If any section clause, sentence, or phrase of this resolution is for
any reason held invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, the holding shall
not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this resolution.
Section 3. Effective Date. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon
adoption by vote of the City Commission.
